The condition of the skin after summer.

Following the summer, the skin is dehydrated, dried out and weakened. Indeed, repeated exposure to the sun, swimming in the sea or in the pool weakens the skin's horny layer, which can no longer fulfil its protective role. Consequently, the insensible water loss (IWL) intensifies and the skin becomes more vulnerable to external aggressions.

Furthermore, at the skin level, UV rays induce a hyperkeratinisation which is to say, a proliferation of keratinocytes leading to a thickening of the epidermis. This hyperkeratinisation prevents the evacuation of sebum, which then clogs the skin's pores. This accumulation of sebum creates a nutritious environment conducive to the growth of Cutibacterium acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne.

Note : After summer, skin imperfections may appear, this is what we call the "rebound effect". This phenomenon is precisely explained by the thickening of the epidermis which clogs the skin's pores.

The correct measures to adopt for taking care of your skin after the summer.

  • Cleaning one's skin.

As mentioned earlier, after the summer, pores tend to become clogged, which promotes the formation ofblemishes. Therefore, daily cleansing is an essential step to deeply clean the pores. However, the cleansing must be gentle so as not to harm the skin, which is already weakened.

In the evening, we recommend the double cleanse. Firstly, use an oil-based product to remove makeup, sunscreen and excess sebum, which are lipophilic. Our balm makeup remover enriched with vegetable oils of buriti, camellia and coconut gently cleanses and removes makeup from the face and eyes. The skin is rid of its impurities. Its texture, transforming into oil then into milk, is respectful of the skin.

Subsequently, cleanse your skin with a water-based solution. With the skin now free of makeup, the cleanser can thoroughly cleanse it. For instance, you could choose our exfoliating cleansing gel. Formulated with 5% P.H.A. (gluconolactone), this cleanser provides a gentle micro-chemical exfoliation ideal for combating skin hyperkeratinisation. It unclogs pores and promotes skin hydration. It also contains aloe vera which hydrates and soothes the skin, as well as inulin which rebalances the skin microbiota. The sweet orange essential oil it contains has antibacterial properties that are ideal for combating spots.

  • Hydrating and nourishing one's skin.

The UV rays from the sun and swimming weaken the corneal layer of the epidermis, leading to skin dryness and dehydration. To counteract this dehydration, it is important to provide the skin with hydrating active ingredients.

To boost your skin's hydration, apply our hydrating serum morning and evening. It is composed of 3% hyaluronic acid, known for its highly hydrating virtues (it can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water), as well as 2% pro-vitamin B5 which reduces insensible water loss.

In order to lock in hydration, it is necessary to nourish your skin to strengthen the skin barrier and prevent transepidermal water evaporation. Therefore, apply ournourishing face moisturisermorning and evening. It is composed ofsqualane, plum oil,as well asshea butterwhich are lipid-replenishing active ingredients.

Note : Select your moisturising cream based on your skin type. For instance, if you have oily skin, opt for the purifying moisturising cream.

For the skin of your body, apply daily nourishing body cream. It contains 10% squalane, shea butter and plum oil, which are highly lipid-replenishing active ingredients. They strengthen the hydrolipidic film, thus protecting the skin from external aggressions.

  • Protecting one's skin.

Even when returning from summer holidays, it is essential to continue protecting your skin from UV rays throughout the year, regardless of the weather ! Sun protection will help you combat photo-ageing (wrinkles, brown spots, skin sagging) and reduce the risk of skin cancer. Our sun creams provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, and hydrate and soothe the skin thanks to aloe vera and hyaluronic acid.

  • Exfoliate.

In order to limit the appearance of imperfections due to skin hyperkeratinisation (rebound effect), it is necessary to exfoliate the skin. Our peeling face mask unclogs pores, renews the skin and brightens the complexion. It offers a triple exfoliation: chemical with P.H.A.s, enzymatic with acids from blackberry, blackcurrant and raspberry, and mechanical with cranberry powder. This exfoliating jelly is used once or twice a week.

For the skin of your body, opt weekly for our nourishing body scrub which gently exfoliates the skin thanks to the micro-grains of apricot kernels, while nourishing it with the sweet almond oil. The latter, due to its high vitamin E content, possesses powerful antioxidant properties that strengthen the skin barrier. Thus, the skin is better protected against external aggressions.
