Cranberry Powder

Commonly known as:   Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit Powder/Extract (I.N.C.I.), Cranberry, Ataca.

Botanical name:   Vaccinium macrocarpon.

Extraction process:   Mechanical grinding of berries through micronisation followed by sterilisation using ionising radiations and microbiological control.

Family:   Ericaceae.

Extracted part of the plant:   Berries.

Cultivation area, origin:   North America.

Blooming:   In May - June.

Origin, provenance:   Canada.

Phytochemical composition:   Polyphenols (anthocyanins and tannins), tocotrienols (vitamin E), sugars, essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6).

Sensory properties:   Appearance: Fine powder; Colour: Intense pink; Odour: Characteristic, slightly acidic.

Physical properties:   Density = 3 - 5; Soluble in water; Insoluble in oil.

Concerns:   Exfoliant, astringent, purifying, antioxidant, moisturising, colouring.

Effect:   All skin types, particularly for normal, combination, oily, mature, and problematic skin.

Method of Preservation

Store in a sealed packaging, in a cool, dry place, protected from light.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

There are no contraindications to the cosmetic use of cranberry powder. It can be used by pregnant women and young children. Avoid contact with the eyes. As it is a powdery product, do not use near a ventilation source.
