Commonly known as: Sweet orange peel oil, Citrus Sinensis Peel Oil (I.N.C.I.), Sweet Orange.
Botanical name: Citrus sinensis.
Extraction process: First cold pressing.
Family: Crustaceans.
Part of the plant extracted: Exocarps of the fruit (peels).
Location: Originally from Southeast Asia, it then spread around the Mediterranean basin, to Central America (Costa Rica), South America, and Israel.
Flowering: From March to June (spring).
Provenance, origin: Mexico.
Phytochemical composition: Limonene, beta-myrcene, alpha-pinene, n-decanal, linalool, geranial.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: A liquid that may become cloudy when the temperature is lowered; Colour: Ranging from yellow to orange; Scent: Zesty, sweet, fruity, and tangy.
Physical characteristics: Density = 0.842 - 0.850.
Benefits: Tonic, fragrant, soothing, decongestant, antiseptic, purifying.
Concerns: All types of skin and hair; Indicated in cases of cellulite.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it is recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, away from heat.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. When applied topically, do not use on babies and children under 6 years old. Diluted topical use is possible for pregnant women over 4 months. Do not use pure essential oil on the skin or mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the area around the eyes, or inside the ears.

Note: It is advisable to test the essential oil before using it (two drops in the crook of the elbow for at least 24 hours to ensure there is no reaction).
