Why is it so crucial to hydrate one's lips?
The lips exhibit a different constitution from the rest of the face. In addition to being particularly thin, their semi-mucous membranes lack sweat glands and have only a minute quantity of sebaceous glands, responsible for sweat and sebum, respectively, and therefore for the natural hydration of the skin. Indeed, the hydrolipidic film, which is supposed to protect them from external aggressions and limit their dehydration, is non-existent.
Naturally lacking this protective barrier, the skin of the lips is thus more vulnerable to dryness and various skin discomforts: tingling, tightness, cracks or even chapping, thereby altering the appearance of the lips if they are not properly protected and hydrated.
Lip balm, whether transparent or tinted, is an essential ally for protecting your lips every day. Composed of nourishing and film-forming ingredients, it creates a protective layer on the skin's surface that mimics the functions of the hydrolipidic film. Apply it at least three times a day.
Which treatment should be adopted?
In a convenient format, our lipid-replenishing lip balm works not only by creating a protective film on the surface of the lips, but also by deeply nourishing them. This leaves a feeling of suppleness and softness on the lips. Clinically tested, this treatment provides eight hours of hydration for the lips. It is composed of 98% naturally derived ingredients and notably contains ceramides, essential for maintaining the skin barrier, and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, capable of attracting and retaining water molecules in the skin, thus improving lip hydration.
Little Extra : Just like the rest of the body, the first essential step to maintain healthy lips is to drink water. Good body hydration will also have an impact on the hydration of the lips. To maintain an optimal hydration level, drink a sufficient amount of water. Per day, it is recommended to drink at least 1.5 litres of water.
