The Best Way to Remove Makeup Properly.

The Best Way to Remove Makeup Properly.

How to get makeup off properly? There are several mistakes we must avoid if we want this part of our daily routine to be truly effective. Which formula to choose? What accessories should you use? And how do you go about it? Our experts have the answers.

1. Treat Your Skin Gently.

How to get makeup off? If it had to be summed up in a single word, it would undoubtedly be gentleness. Whatever your skin type is, the best way to remove makeup is to be cleansed with products that don't damage the hydrolipidic film. Cleansing oil is therefore the best option. Although it may seem oilier than other formulas, it cleanses the epidermis deeply and is the ideal first step in a double-cleansing routine.

2. Take Makeup off With the Right Accessories.

Cleansing brushes have long been popular, but we now know that they can be aggressive to the skin if used every day. In fact, they can irritate and unbalance the skin. Use them once or twice a week.

Make-up-removing wipes may be practical, but they won't remove all the makeup and impurities deposited on the skin. Worse still, they can cause irritation and make it easier to forget to cleanse after use.

While disposable cotton pads are not recommended as they are not very environmentally friendly, their washable version is particularly useful for makeup removal. To be used with micellar water, they remove all makeup particles and impurities without aggressing the skin. Moreover, they allow you to check when to stop removing makeup. As long as your cotton pad isn't white, it's not finished, and you need to continue cleansing. You can wash them by hand with hot water and plant-based soap, or put them in the washing machine.

3. The Best Way to Remove Makeup.

To take makeup off isn't a difficult task in itself, but you do need to adopt the right gestures. Whether you wear makeup or not, you need to follow this routine in the evening, as it removes all the impurities (pollution, allergens, dust, etc.) accumulated during the day. For a complete and effective daily cleansing routine, here are the three steps to follow:

  • Step 1: Choose a makeup remover suited to your skin type. If you use a cleansing oil, apply a few drops directly to your hands. Warm the oil for a few seconds between your palms, then apply in circular movements all over your face, leaving no area untouched. On the other hand, if you're using micellar water, put some on a reusable cotton pad and cleanse your face until all makeup has disappeared. As long as your cotton pad is not white, continue to remove makeup. It's a guarantee of cleanliness.

  • Step 2: Rinse thoroughly with clear water. However, if your skin is dry or sensitive, you may prefer to use a micellar water or a moisturizing toner to avoid further drying of the epidermis and remove any limescale residues deposited on your skin.

  • Step 3: Follow with a facial cleanser depending on your skin type for a deep cleansing.

Step 4: Depending on your skin's needs, apply your night serum to nourish and treat your skin, and a moisturizing cream or vegetable oil.
