Why use a lip balm?

The skin of the lips is delicate and sensitive. Like the face, it is exposed to external factors (wind, cold, sun, tobacco, etc...). The fragility of the lip skin is due to the fact that it contains neither sebaceous glands nor sweat glands to protect itself from external aggressions. Dryness, fine lines and chapping are signs of dehydration at the lip level. Moreover, sun exposure dries out and darkens the lips. Just like the skin of the rest of the face, that of the lips needs to be protected from the sun. In addition to protecting the lips from external aggressions, a lip balm restores softness, suppleness and shine to the lips.

Which lip balm should be used?

To combat dehydration, feelings of discomfort, and chapping, it is necessary to choose a good nourishing balm. Our lip balm is made from shea butter, castor oil, sunflower seed oil, and vegetable-derived polyglycerides. Shea butter is renowned for its nourishing, hydrating, repairing, and soothing properties. Thus, it nourishes while protecting the lips from skin dryness. On the other hand, castor oil restores softness to the lips thanks to its emollient properties. Rich in antioxidants, sunflower seed oil protects against free radicals, while softening the lips.

How to apply a lip balm?

For a mouth and lips in optimal health, it is not enough to simply choose the right lip balm, but it is also important to use it in the correct manner. Here are our tips regarding its application, to help you achieve soft and plump lips:

  1. The first thing to do is to properly wash your hands with soap or use hand sanitiser if you are outdoors, otherwise, you risk spreading germs into your mouth;

  2. Next, take a small amount of lip balm on the tip of your index finger;

  3. Apply the substance evenly across the surface of your lips, starting from the centre of your lower lip before spreading it towards the corners of your mouth. Do the same on the upper lip. You can apply more if you feel the need to;

  4. Finish by gently massaging your lips, tucking them into your mouth. This movement allows for a better distribution of the product across the entirety of the lips, thus avoiding dry areas. Reapply the product if you experience a feeling of tightness or dryness throughout the day.

  5. If you plan to apply lipstick afterwards, wait a few minutes before applying your makeup product to allow the skincare treatment to penetrate.

Finally, do not hesitate to exfoliate your lips once a week to get rid of dead skin cells, thus allowing the moisturising treatment to penetrate more effectively for better action.
