Can You Use Your Body Wash on Your Face?

Cleansing your face is a fundamental part of your skincare routine. Every day, it is exposed to various external aggressions such as the sun, pollution, dust, allergens, etc… It's therefore important to eliminate all these impurities accumulated throughout the day and maintain good hygiene. But what should you use to wash your face? Is body wash on face skin a good idea?

Why Wash Your Face?

Facial cleansing is an essential part of your daily skin care routine, just like showering. The skin on your face is constantly exposed to external aggressors, and is therefore subject to a constant influx of impurities that can clog pores. During the day, pollution debris, allergens, dust, sweat, sebum, dead skin, germs, cosmetics, etc. accumulate on the surface of the epidermis. During the night, the skin becomes clogged with dead cells due to the intensification of the cell regeneration process, sweat, and sebum. So, washing your face helps to rid the epidermis of these impurities. The result is soft, purified, healthy, energized skin and a radiant complexion. On the other hand, if you don't cleanse your face every day, the accumulation of these residues and dead cells clogs skin pores, encouraging the appearance of imperfections such as blackheads or pimples.

Can You Use Body Wash on Your Face?

Body wash on face skin is not a good idea, even if it has been designed to respect the skin's balance. In fact, body skin and the delicate facial skin do not have the same needs: facial skin is particularly fine, fragile, and sensitive. What's more, the face is more exposed to the sun, dust, pollution, cold, etc. all year round. That's why it's best to opt for a gentle cleanser specifically formulated for the face and adapted to your skin type, to preserve the hydrolipidic film.

What Should I Use to Cleanse My Face?

To protect your face's cutaneous barrier, choose a cleanser suited to your skin type:

  • If your skin is combination to oily, opt for a foaming cleanser with a watery texture and cleansing, purifying and sebum-regulating properties.

  • If your skin is normal, dry, or sensitive, opt for a cleansing milk with a moisturizing and nourishing formula, where it will bring comfort and suppleness to the skin.

  • If you have dull or blemished skin, choose a gel cleanser offering progressive micro-exfoliation of the skin to unclog pores, smooth skin texture, and even out and brighten the complexion.
