Why should we wash our face?
Cleansing your face is a crucial daily task and should be part of your regular skincare routine, just like taking a shower. Indeed, the skin on your face is constantly exposed to external aggressions and thus experiences a continuous influx of impurities that can clog the pores. Throughout the day, pollution debris, allergens, dust, sweat, sebum, dead skin cells, germs, cosmetic products, etc... accumulate on the surface of the epidermis. During the night, the skin becomes clogged with dead cells due to the intensification of the cellular regeneration process, sweat and sebum. Therefore, washing your face helps to rid the epidermis of these impurities. The result is soft, purified, healthy and revitalised skin, as well as a radiant complexion. Conversely, if you do not cleanse your face every day, the accumulation of these residues and dead cells clog the skin pores, promoting the appearance of imperfections such as blackheads or spots.
Cleansing the face with shower gel: good or bad idea?
Using shower gel is not suitable for cleansing the delicate skin of the face, even if it has been designed to respect the skin's balance. Indeed, the skin of the body and that of the face do not have the same needs: the skin of the face is particularly thin, fragile and sensitive. Moreover, the face is more exposed to the sun, dust, pollution, cold, etc... throughout the year. Therefore, it is preferable to opt for a gentle cleansing care specifically formulated for the face and adapted to your skin type in order to preserve the hydrolipidic film.
What should one use to cleanse the face?
To protect the skin barrier of your face, choose a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type:
If your skin is combination to oily, opt for a foaming cleanser with a watery texture that has deep-cleaning, purifying, and sebum-regulating properties.
On the contrary, if your skin is normal, dry or sensitive, opt for a cleansing milk with a hydrating and nourishing formula, where it will provide comfort and suppleness to the skin.
However, if you have a dull skin or blemished skin, opt for a gel cleanser that offers progressive micro-exfoliation of the skin to unclog pores, smooth the skin texture, and even out and brighten the complexion.
