Step No.1: Use non-comedogenic skincare products.
The foundation of clear skin is to adopt a beauty routine with products tailored to the needs of your skin. In particular, avoid alcohol-based solutions, which are harsh on the skin, and favour gentle and non-comedogenic products, as when the skin is aggravated, it produces more sebum. To prevent the appearance of these blackheads and other blemishes on the skin surface, it is therefore important to maintain a rigorous skin hygiene:
Makeup Removal : Whether you are prone to blackheads or not, never go to bed still wearing makeup, as this can clog the pores. The makeup remover thus helps to eliminate makeup residues but also impurities (dust, pollution particles, etc...) that have accumulated on your skin throughout the day.
Cleansing : Pollution, perspiration, cosmetic treatments, tobacco smoke, etc... are all factors that promote the proliferation of bacteria on the skin. To prevent these impurities from clogging the skin pores and thus promoting the formation of blackheads, it is imperative to deeply cleanse the face every day using a gentle cleansing care product suitable for your skin type, in addition to removing makeup.
Exfoliation : Grain scrub, chemical scrub, enzymatic scrub... all skin types require a gentle and regular exfoliation to stimulate cellular renewal, but also to rid the skin of dead cells that have accumulated on the surface of the epidermis, which are responsible for the appearance of blackheads.
Little tip : To facilitate exfoliation, consider doing asteam bath (or facial sauna) beforehand to "liquefy" the sebum. For this, boil some water to which you can add a few drops oftea tree essential oilfor its purifying virtues. Once the water has come to a boil, position your face above it, covering your head with a towel. Let the steam work on your skin for a few minutes.
Detoxification: For a more profound treatment, opt for a purifying blackhead mask made with green clay and pine charcoal to unclog pores, regulate sebum production and aid in the removal of blackheads.
Hydration : Even though you might be tempted not to use a moisturiser on oily skin prone to blemishes, daily hydration is essential to prevent the skin from becoming dehydrated and producing even more sebum to protect itself. Moreover, applying a face cream helps to protect the skin against external aggressions and dehydration.
Step No. 2: Protect yourself from the sun's rays.
Avoid, as much as possible, prolonged exposure to the sun. This weakens your skin and makes it more susceptible to blackheads. When you expose yourself, the superficial layer of your skin thickens to protect itself from UV rays. However, this thickening causes, among other things, an overactivity of the sebaceous glands, thus an overproduction of sebum, and prevents the sebum from flowing easily. This environment then becomes conducive to the formation of blackheads. That's why before each exposure to the sun, make sure to protect your skin with a sunscreen.
Step No. 3: Resist the temptation to touch your blackheads.
In the battle against blackheads, every action, even those that seem harmless, counts. No matter how tempting it may be to poke and prod at these unsightly little blemishes that blemish your face with your fingers, resist! This will only serve to infect and multiply them further, something we are specifically trying to avoid. Your nails and fingers are indeed breeding grounds for microbes that can inflame the blackheads.
The risk of spreading impurities and infecting another pore is very real. It's a bad idea if you're trying to discreetly remove blackheads. The same goes for blackhead extractors or comedone removers, which pose the same dangers and require both skill to avoid damaging the skin and very occasional use. The risk of exacerbating the situation by ending up with hyper-dilated pores and skin scars is high. Popping blackheads is thus a delicate task best left to a beautician or a dermatologist.
