As its name suggests, macadamia nut oil is extracted from macadamia nuts. These are the fruit of the macadamia tree, which has its origins in Australia, but is now found in the South Pacific region and South Africa. This is an evergreen tree primarily cultivated for its nut-like fruits, which are similar to chestnuts.
Macadamia nut oil is obtained through cold pressing, that is, under a temperature of 60% or less. The mechanical process is carried out without the use of solvents. Indeed, the whole shells are dried, then crushed. They are placed in cloth bags before being cold pressed with the aim of obtaining a crude oil. No refining treatment is necessary.
