The origins of coriander are in fact quite unclear. It is difficult to identify the places where it grows wild and those where it has recently established itself. In France, coriander appears to have been cultivated since antiquity, according to archaeological excavations.
Historically, it was used in traditional medicine and cooking. Its fruits contain seeds from which coriander essential oil is extracted. The extraction is carried out by steam distillation of the dried seeds. Approximately 100 kg of seeds are required to produce 400 grams of essential oil.
Already used in cooking to flavour dishes, coriander essential oil is also part of the ingredients for natural beauty care. It has numerous benefits for the body. This essential oil is often applied to the skin to cleanse or soothe it.
