What is the HYAcorp treatment for enhancing buttock volume?
The HYAcorp treatment is designed for individuals who desire sculpted buttocks without the constraints associated with surgical procedures. This treatment is based on injections of hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. This is a macromolecular component of the extracellular matrix naturally present in our bodies. This hydrating agent captures and retains water. It contributes to the formation of connective tissue and serves as a support for collagen and elastin fibres at the dermis level.
The hyaluronic acid used in the HYAcorp treatment aimed at reshaping the volume of the buttocks is cross-linked. This is a form of hyaluronic acid modified to form a dense three-dimensional structure. Thanks to this cross-linking, it becomes thicker, more stable and more resistant to natural degradation by the body, which extends its effect. Indeed, thanks to its viscoelastic and hydrophilic properties that allow it to retain water, this natural molecule is able to increase the firmness and flexibility of the skin. Furthermore, it should be noted that the risk of rejection is virtually nil as the substance is biodegradable and biocompatible.
A study analysed 91 patients aged over 21 who received hyaluronic acid-based (HYAcorp) injections for buttock volume enhancement. The data, sourced from the medical records of three aesthetic clinics, covers treatments carried out between 2017 and 2022 with a follow-up period of up to 4 years and 7 months. The results are based on patient satisfaction and physician evaluation. They indicate an average satisfaction score of 2.26 on the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) out of 5, which translates to a clear improvement, with 1 being the best score. 55% of patients rated their results as a clear improvement. Regarding the physicians, the average satisfaction was 1.69, with 51% of them indicating a clear improvement and 40% indicating a very clear improvement.
How does a Hyacorp treatment session proceed?
A preliminary information consultation is scheduled during which the practitioner analyses your figure and conducts a clinical examination of your buttocks. Following this consultation, they assess the amount of hyaluronic acid to be injected. During the procedure, it is necessary to adopt a prone position to facilitate access to the treatment area. The first step involves thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting the skin of the buttocks. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and lasts between one hour and an hour and a half.
Thanks to anaesthesia, the procedure is painless and does not leave scars, although slight swelling and bruising may occur, usually disappearing quickly. Once the sensations of pain are eliminated, the professional proceeds with the injections of macromolecular hyaluronic acid into the subcutaneous tissues. Generally, this completely resorbable substance is contained in 10 mL syringes. With each injection made in fine, regular rows, the clinician massages the treated area. The aim is to standardise the results and shape the buttocks according to the desired effect. It should be noted that the procedure is carried out under strict sterile conditions to avoid the risks of local or even systemic infections.
What about the aftermath of the Hyacorp treatment?
The discomfort experienced is minimal during and after the procedure. The final result can be observed between 3 and 4 weeks following the procedure. Moreover, the effects are temporary due to the resorbable nature of the gel used to sculpt the buttocks. It is possible that they may completely disappear after 24 months. Certain follow-up measures must be adhered to, such as keeping the treated area perfectly clean, not sleeping on your back for at least a week, not sitting for more than 45 consecutive minutes, and avoiding physical activity for at least two weeks.
However, according to the results of a study conducted on 91 patients, adverse effects can occur. Early effects (within 15 days following the procedure) and late effects (appearing beyond 15 days) were reported, but all were considered moderate.
Early effects were the most common, affecting 47 participants (50%), compared to only 3 cases of late effects (3.3%). The most common adverse effect was swelling at the implantation site, observed in 25 participants (27.5%), followed by bruising, itching, and mild inflammation. A significantly higher risk of adverse effects was noted in participants who had previously received a buttock treatment with implants, fat transfer, poly-L-lactic acid, or another hyaluronic acid.
