Could sesame oil be a good alternative for buttock augmentation?

The trend for fuller buttocks and breasts has emerged in recent years. However, many people wish to alter their appearance and enhance certain parts of their body without resorting to cosmetic surgery. As a result, so-called "volumising" or "plumping" treatments are currently in vogue in the market. These types of products can be found in the form of creams, balms or other galenic forms. They are intended to be applied to the buttocks, the chest, the cheekbones or even the lips. Anatomically, the rounded nature of the buttocks is primarily due to the muscles found there: the gluteus maximus, the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus.

To stimulate growth and thus alter the shape of the buttocks, volumising treatments utilise specific compounds known as phytoestrogens, naturally found in several plants. They possess a structure similar to that of a human hormone, estradiol. Phytoestrogens are believed to be capable of mimicking the action of this steroidal hormone by binding to its specific receptors, potentially inducing hormonal effects similar to those of estrogens.

An action of the receptors α-oestrogenic is suggested in muscle mass gain, although the precise mechanism of action is still poorly understood. Indeed, a study has shown that regular administration of oestrogen could cause a slight increase in overall muscle mass. However, as phytoestrogens are not identical to human oestrogens, it is uncertain whether they can have the same mode of action, let alone in topical application. That's why there is currently no scientific evidence of the effectiveness of volumising treatments.

What about the effect of sesame oil on the buttocks?

The belief thatsesame oil could potentially increase buttock size is based on the same principle, as this vegetable oil also contains phytoestrogens. Indeed, it comprises sesamin, sesamolin, and sesamol, which are lignans. Just like the phytoestrogens found in volumising products, their effects on muscle mass when applied topically have not been proven at this time.

However, it is worth noting that sesame oil, due to its richness in fatty acids, has a nourishing effect. Therefore, repeated application of sesame oil, combined with a vigorous buttock massage, could potentially have long-term "firming" effects. More hydrated and nourished, the skin could appear firmer and sagging of the buttocks could be reduced. These are, however, speculations, as no study has currently investigated this topic.

But then, how can we increase the volume of the buttocks?

If you wish to increase muscle volume in the buttocks, there are other alternatives. Among them, sport could be an interesting solution through various strength training exercises, using weights or body weight. It is also possible to resort to a cosmetic surgery operation. There are several promising more rounded buttocks, such as the placement of buttock implants, hyaluronic acid injections (Hyacorp), or even the autograft of fatty tissue in the buttocks (lipofilling). However, these operations carry risks, including venous thrombosis. Therefore, it is necessary to have several medical consultations before these operations and to be certain of your decision.
