Many people are looking to incorporate natural ingredients into their skincare routine, particularly plant-based oils. Among these, sesame oil, known for its beneficial properties for the skin and hair, is becoming increasingly popular in cosmetic use. Some even attribute it with volumising effects on the bust. But what is the reality? Let's separate fact from fiction.

Sesame oil to increase breast volume?
Does sesame oil have an effect on breast volume?
Having a fuller bust has become a trend, leading some individuals to resort to cosmetic surgery to align themselves more closely with these new beauty standards. However, many people who do not wish to take this route are looking for natural alternatives to promote the growth of their breasts and/or their buttocks.
Products known as volumisers have been formulated for this purpose in various forms (creams, balms, lotions...), increasingly flooding the cosmetics market. The effectiveness of these treatments is believed to be due to the presence of certain types of compounds found in several plants, known as phytoestrogens. These compounds have a structure comparable to that of steroid hormones, naturally present in the human body like estradiol.
Phytoestrogens are believed to have the ability to mimic the activity of this hormone, binding to specific receptors and thus generating hormonal effects similar to those of oestrogens. Indeed, oestrogens stimulate adipogenesis, the production of fat cells, in the breasts and other subcutaneous tissues. They can therefore increase breast volume to a certain extent.
However, in terms of phytoestrogens, there is currently no scientific evidence to assert that they have the same effect. The hormonal influence of phytoestrogens remains challenging to study because, even though they resemble estradiol, these compounds are different from natural hormones. Therefore, it is currently impossible to claim that volumising treatments are reliable alternatives for gaining mass in the chest area.
Results from the topical application of sesame oil on the breasts?
The same applies to the sesame oil. This oil is suspected to increase breast volume because it contains lignans in its composition, namely sesamin, sesamolin and sesamol. Now, lignans are phytoestrogens, which may explain the existing question about its potential volumising effect. However, just like with volumising treatments, no scientific study has looked into this matter.
Even though it seems unlikely that sesame oil could increase breast volume, it remains an interesting vegetable oil for taking care of one's skin.
The sesame oil, thanks to the fatty acids it contains, has particularly nourishing properties. Thus, repeated application of sesame oil combined with a dynamic chest massage may, in the long term, have a "firming" effect. Nourished, the skin could indeed present a firmer appearance, which could limit breast sagging. However, further studies are still needed to confirm this theory.
What can be done to enlarge one's breasts?
Today, to increase the volume of one's breasts, it is possible to resort to a mammoplasty, a procedure that involves inserting a silicone breast implant under the mammary gland or behind the pectoral muscle. It is also possible to slightly enhance the swollen appearance of the chest through sport exercises, particularly by working the area around the pectorals. More muscular pectorals can indeed give the impression that the chest is more developed.
