How to apply a tinted lip balm?

A new range of cosmetic products is gaining popularity: tinted lip balms. This treatment sits at the intersection of lipstick and moisturising lip balm. It enhances the skin of the lips by adding colour, while also hydrating and protecting them from external aggressions. But how should it be applied correctly? Here's how to proceed.

What is a tinted lip balm?

The tinted lip balm is a 2-in-1 makeup product, which is both moisturising and tinting. Indeed, this multi-purpose care perfectly combines the characteristics of a lipstick and those of a moisturising balm. It thus provides the skin of the lips with: hydration, nutrition, protection, comfort and colouration.

Which tinted lip balm is used?

To choose your tinted balm wisely, it is essential initially to scrutinise the list of ingredients. The aim is to select a product enriched with natural moisturising, nourishing, repairing and protective elements for the skin such as oils, waxes or vegetable butters, and natural colourants. Conversely, it is advisable to avoid silicones, essential oils, BHA, BHT, parabens and synthetic hydrocarbons (paraffin oil, paraffin wax, etc...).

Our tinted lip balm is, on the other hand, enriched with hyaluronic acid, castor oil and raspberry seed oil. It also contains peppermint oil macerate, which provides a soothing effect, a fresh sensation and a minty taste. Then, the choice of your tinted lip care also depends on the colour. This parameter depends on your skin tone, the desired effect and your eye makeup. At Typology, five shades of tinted lip balm have been created: ruby red, powdered pink, rosy beige, coral orange and plum purple.

Method of applying a tinted lip balm.

To delicately enhance your lips while caring for them, take a small amount of tinted balm on the tip of your finger and distribute it by running your finger over the upper and lower lip. To achieve a more intense pigmentation, simply increase the amount of product and apply several layers. If you have fine lines around the lips, the colour may bleed. To counteract this possibility or simply to add volume to your lips, it is advisable to outline your lips with a lip pencil.

For a uniform and well-groomed result, it is recommended toexfoliate your lips regularly, at least once a week, to remove all dead skin on the surface and also to boost cell renewal. To do this, apply the equivalent of a small pea of grain scrub to the skin of your lips and then perform light circular movements without pressing too hard. Finally, every evening, do not forget to remove your lip makeup with a gentle makeup remover, even if the tinted balm seems to have faded during the day.
