Heat: Tips for maintaining a radiant complexion?

Heat puts the body, and especially the skin, through a tough test. During the summer, the temperature rises, which promotes perspiration and dehydration. Our complexion tends to become dull. Follow our advice to maintain a radiant complexion despite the heat.

Tip No. 1: Hydrate your skin.

Whether it's summer or winter, hydration is paramount. Indeed, the secret to healthy skin lies in preserving hydration. If this is the case, the skin captures light better and displays a radiant appearance. Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, tends to have a dull complexion accompanied by feelings of discomfort.

To maintain skin hydration despite the heat, it is essential to regularly drink water: it is recommended to drink 1.5 L of water per day. The application of dedicated skincare products can also help. For instance, you could start by applying our hyaluronic acid hydrating serum followed by our 9-ingredient face moisturising cream which also contains hyaluronic acid (INCI: Sodium Hyaluronate), a molecule known for its highly hydrating virtues. It can retain up to a thousand times its weight in water and helps to hydrate the skin's epidermis. This skincare product is suitable for all skin types, whether oily, dry, or normal.

Tip No. 2: Exfoliate your skin.

Exfoliating your skin once a week is a practice to incorporate into your routine for a radiant complexion. This helps to remove dead cells and flakes, resulting in a smoother and more even skin texture.

Our radiance facial scrub brightens the complexion and reveals the skin's natural glow. It is enriched with organic rosehip oil (INCI: Rosa Canina Fruit Oil) which is regenerative and unifying, as well as with organic carrot macerate (INCI: Daucus Carota Sativa Root Extract), an excellent active ingredient for a healthy glow. The apricot kernel powder (INCI: Prunus Armeniaca Seed Powder) allows for gentle exfoliation.

Tip No. 3: Use antioxidant treatments.

Environmental factors such as pollution, UV rays, tobacco or alcohol promote the emergence of free radicals. These reactive and unstable species attack our DNA, our proteins or our cells and are the cause of skin ageing. As a result, our skin becomes duller and displays wrinkles or fine lines. Therefore, it is advisable to use antioxidant treatments that will capture these free radicals and allow the skin to regain its radiance.

We have developed an antioxidant capsule that helps to prevent the onset of wrinkles and enhance the radiance of your skin. You can apply the antioxidant serum daily, which contains ferulic acid and ashitaba extract followed by the antioxidant cream enriched with carotenoids and organic lavender extract to protect the skin from cellular oxidation.

Once or twice a week, you can also leave on the radiance mask with yellow clay and organic turmeric for 10 minutes to refine the skin texture and brighten your complexion.

Tip No. 4: Apply sun protection.

In the summer, exposure to UV rays results in an increase in the thickness of the stratum corneum, which is composed of dead cells. This is a natural protective response against this type of radiation. However, this leads to an accumulation of dead cells on the skin's surface, causing a dull complexion.

For this reason, it is recommended to use a sunscreen daily, which will protect the skin from UV rays and maintain the skin's radiance.

Note: It is recommended to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours and to avoid sun exposure between 11 am and 5 pm.

Tip No.5: The facial sauna for a radiant skin.

To hydrate and even out the complexion, it is recommended to perform a facial sauna. Originating from Japan, this method involves boiling demineralised water in a basin and placing the face above the steam for 5 to 7 minutes. The moist heat unclogs the pores and eliminates all impurities.

Subsequently, the skin will easily eliminate sweat and toxins during perspiration. Thanks to the facial sauna, the skin texture softens, becomes smooth and the complexion will be radiant even under intense heat.

Tip No. 6: Make-up to even out the complexion.

It is possible to unify and give a radiant effect to the complexion using makeup. Applying foundation is not always straightforward in summer. The heat can quickly cause makeup to run and risk clogging the pores. As with moisturising cream, it is important to lighten the texture of your foundation by mixing it with a glass of water. This will unify the complexion without greasing the facial skin. The latter will present a radiant appearance without the risk of the foundation running due to the heat.

To enhance its durability, you can spray on a setting mist. This spray helps to improve the longevity of the makeup even during high temperatures. Colourless, it allows for a matte or semi-matte finish.

For a more radiant complexion, you can rely on the illuminating concentrate, which can be mixed directly with your moisturiser or your tinted care for a luminous and natural finish. The vitamin C it contains is a powerful antioxidant active ingredient, known for brightening the complexion, reducing pigmentation spots and slowing down the photo-ageing of the skin.
