What Causes Skin Dehydration?
Alcohol is a diuretic, i.e. a substance that increases urinary secretion. It also promotes exudation. Consumption thus leads to general dehydration of the body, and consequently of skin tissue. The skin loses its radiance and may even appear taut as its elasticity diminishes. We are talking about the so-called hangover skin. The lips are also drier. Furthermore, even if you haven't consumed alcohol during the evening, lack of sleep and possibly smoking also dehydrate the epidermis.
When skin is dehydrated, it's essential to opt for formulas rich in humectant ingredients (glycerine, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, etc.) that will retain water in the skin's layers.
Cleanse Your Skin With Care.
If you haven't had the time or energy to remove your make-up after the party, start your skincare ritual the day after with the 7-ingredient cleansing oil, whose texture will bring comfort to the skin. It is one of our beauty secrets after alcohol as it removes make-up and impurities without irritating the skin. It also softens and nourishes the skin, thanks to sweet almond oil, rich in omega-9. If you prefer a balm-oil-milk texture, opt for camellia oil cleansing balm. It gently removes make-up from face and eyes. Skin is supple, soft and comfortable. Next, opt for a gentle, superfatted cleanser like our moisturizing palmarosa cleanser. Cold-saponified, this process enables the plant oils to retain their lipid-replenishing and soothing properties. You can then complete this beauty routine with a moisturizing toner, which will rebalance the skin's pH, while eliminating limescale residues on the face. Concentrated in hyaluronic acid and aloe vera, this lotion helps rehydrate the skin and reduce feelings of tightness. Only once these first steps have been taken can you apply targeted anti-dehydration skincare.
Rehydrate Your Hangover Skin.
In the morning, after a night out, remember to moisturize your skin with a serum and moisturizing cream. For example, you can combine our plumping serum with polyglutamic acid with our nourishing cream with hyaluronic acid + shea butter.
You can also use one of our moisturizing "skin hangover" masks. This treatment combines trefoil extract, a natural source of hyaluronic acid, with organic aloe vera, an excellent moisturizing and soothing active ingredient, to rehydrate the skin and reinforce the impermeability of its barrier. The skin is soft, supple and plumped, and retains its moisture for longer.
Apply a Scrub or Mask.
Exfoliation the day after an evening out is essential to get rid of dead cells and impurities that have accumulated on the skin's surface. Our radiance scrub with rosehip oil refines skin texture. It also contains carrot macerate for a radiant complexion. If you prefer using skin hangover masks, our red fruit acid peeling mask is an exfoliating jelly that unclogs pores, renews skin and brightens the complexion. It provides dual chemical and mechanical exfoliation.
On the other hand, excess alcohol can lead to skin eruptions such as blackheads or pimples. These are caused by the over-production of sebum, which clogs pores. To counter this, our purifying charcoal mask purifies the skin without drying it out, regulating sebum production and fighting blemishes. It contains sebum-regulating nettle, matifying pine charcoal and purifying green clay.
