What are the dangers of tinted serum?

The tinted serum does not, strictly speaking, present any dangers. However, this hybrid skincare product contains active molecules that may trigger a mild skin reaction. Furthermore, its texture is not recommended for overly oily skin and/or skin with significant imperfections.

Tinted serum, what is it?

A tinted serum is a hybrid formula, straddling skincare and makeup. This type of product allows for an even complexion, provides natural coverage, and most importantly, enhances the skin's natural radiance. It also offers benefits for the skin as it contains active ingredients typically found in serums such as hyaluronic acid or vitamin C.

Tinted Serum: The Contraindications.

This type of formula does not have any contraindications. It can be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women, and generally adapts easily to all skin types. However, oily skin may sometimes find it too rich due to the active ingredients it contains. Moreover, applying a tinted serum instead of a foundation is relevant when you have slight irregularities and/or skin marks to blur. Nevertheless, this type of formula is not suitable for skin with acute redness and large spots. Indeed, its covering power is not effective enough to diminish the appearance of such irregularities.

Tinted Serum: The Undesirable Effects.

As previously mentioned, the tinted serum is suitable for all skin types. There are no restrictions regarding its use. However, as it contains active molecules typically found in skincare products, it is possible to develop a mild reaction if you are intolerant to any of these compounds.

For this reason, it is always recommended to perform a skin tolerance test beforehand. Apply a few drops of the tinted serum on the inside of your wrist or in the crook of your arm and wait for 24 hours. If no reaction occurs, you can apply the tinted serum to your face.
