Both men and women can experience cellulite and skin laxity following weight gain. Dimples are generally the result of adiposity, particularly an accumulation of fat in the subcutaneous lipid cells. They can be reduced with Onda Coolwaves, a non-invasive and painless body reshaping treatment. Learn more about the subject.

What does the Coolwaves process entail?
The Onda Coolwaves is a non-invasive technology that utilises specific electromagnetic microwaves to simultaneously target three major issues: localised fat deposits, adipose cellulite and skin laxity. This treatment could provide an effective alternative to surgical interventions, with visible and lasting results, allowing for precise and natural body contouring. Thanks to the high frequency of nearly 2.45 GHz, the majority of the energy emitted by the Onda Coolwaves is retained by fat cells (80%) and the rest by adjacent tissues (20%). It can be used on various parts of the body, including the thighs, abdomens, flanks, and chin area.
The heat emitted by the Onda Coolwaves destroys fat cells, activates fibroblasts, and produces new collagen. It is absorbed by the fat through a biophysical process called "dielectric heating". This is a phenomenon where an electromagnetic field, such as microwaves, causes the agitation of water molecules and lipids in biological tissues. This agitation leads to the production of heat within the fat cells, without significantly affecting the surrounding tissues. Furthermore, a cooling system is integrated into the Onda Coolwaves, which prevents burns on the superficial layers of the epidermis. Thanks to its actions, the Onda Coolwaves reduces cellulite and minimises skin sagging. A session lasts between 8 and 12 minutes. Generally, two sessions are enough to observe the first results, but this depends on the part of the body targeted, the thickness of the fat cells, and the degree of skin laxity.
A study demonstrated the effectiveness of the Onda Coolwaves treatment on 26 patients with cellulite on the buttocks and back of the thighs. Each patient underwent four sessions, each spaced 30 days apart. The results revealed a significant improvement in the severity of the cellulite, measured on a dedicated scale. After three months of treatment, the percentage of patients with severe cellulite dropped from over 30% to 0%. The proportion of moderate cellulite increased from 25% to 60%, indicating an improvement in more severe cases. Mild cellulite went from 9% to 72%, showing a clear smoothing of the skin. These results confirm the effectiveness of the Onda treatment in visibly reducing cellulite and improving skin quality after a few sessions. Other studies further confirm the effectiveness of Onda Coolwaves on cellulite.

Are there any precautions to consider with Onda Coolwaves sessions?
The Onda Coolwaves can be applied to all skin colours. However, it is not recommended for individuals prone to skin issues, particularly inflammations, infections or bruises. Indeed, the treatment heats the subcutaneous tissues, which can exacerbate existing inflammations, infections or bruises. Applying heat to weakened skin can trigger an increased inflammatory response, delayed healing or a worsening of the skin condition. It is also contraindicated for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Although no study demonstrates direct harmful effects, Onda Coolwaves is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding as a precaution. Hormonal changes can make the skin more sensitive and promote unpredictable reactions, while the destruction of fat cells releases lipids and toxins that could be absorbed by the foetus or transmitted via breast milk.
The Onda Coolwaves is also not suitable for individuals with a vascular disease, type I or II diabetes, an infectious disease such as hepatitis B or C, a coagulation disorder like a haemorrhagic diathesis, or a kidney or liver disease. Heat can affect blood circulation and exacerbate conditions such as varicose veins, venous insufficiency or coagulation disorders (haemorrhagic diathesis).
Furthermore, while its cooling system prevents burns, the Onda Coolwaves can still generate side effects such as redness, itching, swelling and numbness. However, these are generally temporary. After a session, the patient can immediately resume their daily activities but should still avoid prolonged sun exposure and hot baths.
