What are the benefits of salicylic acid?

When applied topically, salicylic acid has numerous benefits. It is particularly recommended for oily and acne-prone skin, due to its sebum-regulating and antiseptic properties. It prevents the growth and proliferation of fungi, viruses, and bacteria, such as Cutibacterium acnes, a microorganism responsible for the inflammatory reactions of acne. It also exerts a keratolytic action and stimulates cellular renewal. The pores are tightened and the complexion is brightened. Finally, its soothing virtues help to reduce symptoms related to inflammation. Thus, in the treatment of acne, it soothes painful spots and visibly reduces redness.

In hair care, salicylic acid sanitises the scalp and aids in the removal of any present flakes and dandruff. It is also used to restore shine and lustre to dull and damaged hair.
