The skin is daily subjected to a variety of external aggressions (sun, wind, pollution, temperature changes, etc.), which can weaken and dry it out. That's why it requires specific care to hydrate and nourish the skin in order to strengthen the hydrolipidic film and thus limit water loss. However, the choice of skincare should not be taken lightly. Here's how to choose your body cream wisely.
How to choose your body cream?
Criteria for choosing the right body cream.
To prevent skin dryness, consider applying a body cream daily. This seemingly insignificant act not only protects your skin from environmental aggressions (sun, cold, wind...), but also hydrates it to maintain healthy skin. Here are the criteria to consider when choosing your body cream:
Before purchasing a skincare product, you must first and foremost consider the needs of your skin. For instance, if you experience feelings of tightness, particularly after showering and during winter, then your skin is dehydrated. This sensation is not constant. Therefore, you require a moisturising body care product to soften your skin. On the other hand, if you experience constant tightness, feelings of discomfort and have 'crocodile' skin, then you have dry skin. This type of skin lacks lipids (ceramides and lipids forming the hydrolipidic film) and is unable to retain water in the epidermis. It needs a body care product rich in nourishing and soothing active ingredients (vegetable butters and oils).
When choosing a body cream, also pay attention to the composition of the product. The ingredients contained in a product are generally listed in descending order, according to quantity. To facilitate international understanding, all plant-based ingredients are identifiable by their botanical name in Latin, while chemical substances are specified in English. It is advisable to opt for a product containing ingredients of natural origin.
Our various body creams.
At Typology, we have designed three body creams: a body moisturising cream with a minimalist formula, a nourishing body cream and a toning body cream. Light and non-greasy, these body creams primarily nourish, protect and hydrate the skin optimally, regardless of their formula. They are suitable for all skin types, even sensitive ones. These three body care products differ in terms of composition:
The moisturising body cream notably contains coconut oil and vegetable glycerin. Formulated solely from 10 ingredients, this treatment allows for intense nourishment of the body's skin and thus helps to prevent dehydration.
The nourishing body cream is enriched with nourishing and restorative active ingredients, such as squalane, plum oil, and shea butter. Ideal for dry skin, this treatment allows the restoration of the skin's hydrolipidic film (which is almost non-existent in these skin types) to prevent the evaporation of water present in the epidermal layers, to reduce irritations and feelings of tightness, and to protect the skin from external aggressions.
The toning body cream contains, among other ingredients, coffee butter, guarana extract, and caffeine. It contributes to skin tone and helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Caffeine is recognised as an anti-cellulite agent due to its lipolytic activity. In other words, it promotes the dissolution of fat clusters. It also helps to tone and firm the skin.
