Aloe vera in cosmetics.
Aloe vera is a succulent plant abundant in the dry and warm regions of the planet, cultivated since antiquity by various major civilisations, particularly for cosmetic use. Traditional ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines, followed by Greek, Egyptian and African, have since their origins used this plant to heal and protect the skin. According to legend, even Cleopatra regularly used it to enhance her beauty. The mechanical pressure of its leaves allows the extraction of a gel which has been recognised for years for its ability to soften the skin, heal skin lesions and more broadly accelerate the healing process.
In Europe, aloe vera in all its forms(I.N.C.I. names: Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Polysaccharides, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water)is authorised for use in organic cosmetics according to the COSMOS standard. It helps to soothe inflammations such as sunburn, hydrate the skin and smooth wrinkles. When applied to hair, it purifies the scalp, combats dandruff, and moisturises the hair to prevent the occurrence of split ends.
At what time of the day should one use an aloe vera skincare product? And how often should it be applied?
Aloe vera skincare can be safely usedseveral times a dayand thisdaily. This ingredient is not photosensitising (it does not increase skin sensitivity to the UV rays of the sun), so you can apply your product morning and evening. However, do ensure to protect your skin every morning with a broad-spectrum sun protection . Our SPF 30 sunscreen is specifically enriched with aloe vera to prevent any skin dehydration.
Thehydrating toner based on hyaluronic acid and aloe vera as well as the purifying toner with salicylic acid can be used morning and evening, during a beauty routine, just after cleansing the skin and before the serum and/or cream. The same applies to the exfoliating cleansing gel which helps to unclog pores while hydrating the skin. Due to the presence of pigments, the tinted serum enriched with vitamin C and aloe vera is preferably applied in the morning, before the makeup stage.
In which skincare products can one find aloe vera?
