Sunken Eyes
Definition:
V-shaped depressions under the eyes (that sometimes extend to the cheekbones) which may appear dark depending on the light. They’re caused by a loss of fat between the lower eyelids and the cheekbones, resulting in a loss of volume. This phenomenon is usually due to the natural ageing process.
Internal and external causes:
Age-related, genetics, after significant weight loss.
How to reduce or eliminate:
Aesthetic medicine (hyaluronic acid or botox injections), cosmetic surgery (cheek lift, lipostructure for dark circles); use concealer to cover the shadows that sunken dark circles create.
Preventative steps to take:
Moisturise around your eyes with moisturising products enriched with antioxidants (Q10, prickly pear oil, hyaluronic acid, etc).
