Macadamia Oil

Flowering: Spring.
Provenance, origin: Kenya.
Commonly known as: Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil (I.N.C.I.), Queensland Walnut.
Location: Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, South Africa, Costa Rica, Brazil, United States (California, Hawaii).
Benefits: Softening, antioxidant, tonic, nourishing, repairing, soothing, protective, restructuring, penetrating.
Botanical name: Macadamia ternifolia.
Extraction process: Cold pressing of macadamia nuts from organic farming.
Phytochemical composition: Polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid), monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid, palmitoleic acid), saturated fatty acids (palmitic acid, stearic acid), tocopherols, phytosterols (avenasterols).
Physical characteristics: Density : 0,910 - 0,930 g/cm3 ; Comedogenicity index : 2 (not very comedogenic) ; Oxidative potential : Stable ; Saponification index : 185 - 195 mgKOH/g ; pH : Not applicable ; Insoluble in water.
Family: Proteaceae.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Oily mobile liquid; Color: Light yellow to orange; Odor: Sweet with notes of hazelnut; Touch: Dry, penetrates quickly without leaving a greasy film.
Part of the plant extracted: Fruit (nuts).
Concerns: All skin types, especially irritated, dry, sensitive, mature and reddened skin; All hair types, especially dry and damaged hair; Also indicated in the prevention and care of stretch marks, damaged hands and heavy legs.

Properties

  • Antioxidant: Protect the cellular constituents of the attack of the free radicals by neutralizing them thanks to a significant quantity of phytosterols and tocopherols (vitamin E) ;

  • Softening, nourishing: To reinforce the hydrolipidic film of the skin to maintain its hydration thanks to a composition in fatty acids very close to that of the sebum ;

  • Penetrating: Absorbed quickly by the skin due to its "dry" texture which does not leave a greasy film;

  • Regenerating, restructuring: Support the renewal cycle of skin cells with its high content of palmitoleic acid (omega-7).

Use

  • Face care (lip balm, day and night creams, eye contour serums, beard oils, make-up remover gels, mists, BB creams, face masks, cleansing emulsions);

  • Body care (bath oils, balms, scrubs, milks, creams/hand oils, deodorants, solid soaps, oils/balms for stretch mark massage and heavy legs);

  • Hair care (shampoos, care masks, conditioners, hair oils, hair creams, hair serums, detangling balms);

  • Make-up (powdered blushes).

Preservation

Store in a dry place, away from heat and light.

Contra-Indications and Precautions

There are no contraindications to the cosmetic use of macadamia oil. Pregnant women and young children can use it. As a precautionary measure, we advise people with nut allergies not to use this oil.
