This week begins on the first day of menstruation. From day 1 to day 7, your body’s two main hormones, estrogen and progesterone, are at their lowest.

The drop in estrogen levels decreases the presence of water in the epidermis, leaving the skin dehydrated. In addition, it’s during this time that your skin is its most sensitive.

Additionally, these two conditions are present during menopause, the moment of a woman's life where estrogen levels are also at their lowest.

What’s more, the low concentration of progesterone prevents the overproduction of sebum. This is why the skin tends to be less oily than at other times throughout the cycle.

During this week, the skin is sensitive and dehydrated.
