How to use orange blossom hydrolat according to your skin type?

Orange blossom hydrosol is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers from the Bitter Orange tree, also known as Seville Orange. Thanks to its regenerative and antioxidant properties, it can cater to various skin types. Here are some tips on how to best utilise this ingredient according to your skin concerns.

In brief, orange blossom hydrosol.

It is derived from the hydrodistillation of flowers harvested from the Bitter Orange tree. This thorny shrub with evergreen leaves originates from India or China (the literature is divided on this matter). Its fruits are edible but very bitter. The orange blossom is also known as "neroli", named after the Princess of Neroli (an Italian town) who popularised its use in perfumery in the 16th century. This scent was indeed the favourite of King Louis XIV; it became indispensable at court during his reign.

The steam distillation of orange blossom flowers results in two distinct fractions: thehydrosol and theessential oil. Derived from the same plant, these two substances have similar properties, but the hydrosol is less concentrated in active species as the aromatic essences are present in smaller quantities. Therefore, it can be used without contraindications by children and pregnant women, unlike the essential oil.

Lack of sleep, smoking, stress, pollution, hormonal imbalances... These are all factors that can dull the complexion and lead to an accumulation of dead cells and impurities on the skin's surface. Orange blossom hydrosol is recognised for its regenerative properties. It stimulates the skin's natural cell renewal, resulting in a brighter and more even complexion.

If you have a dull complexion, we recommend applying an orange blossom hydrosol morning and evening over the entire face, before the serum and/or moisturising cream. Wait at least four weeks to observe the results on the brightness of your skin.

Afterwards, apply your usual face cream to nourish and hydrate your skin.

Note : These calming and soothing properties are also present when ingested. Indeed, orange blossom hydrosol is recognised for promoting sleep and alleviating states of stress and nervousness.

The orange blossom hydrosol for preventing the appearance of ageing signs.

This floral water is rich in flavonoids, molecules that belong to the polyphenol family and are recognised for their antioxidant activity. When applied to the skin, it thus protects skin cells from the harmful effects of free radicals. As a reminder, these are unstable and therefore highly reactive molecules generated by various factors such as stress, smoking, pollution, hormonal fluctuations... Their presence in large quantities in the body impairs cell viability and accelerates the natural ageing process.
