How to use micellar water?

Gentle, versatile, portable, universal, effective, and convenient - these are the main reasons why micellar water is so highly valued and has become an indispensable element in skincare globally. Learn here how to use the product daily for optimal cleansing.

Guidance on the use of micellar water.

Although there are many possible uses, themicellar cleansing water is typically used as a makeup remover and light cleanser. In addition to purified water and moisturising elements, this type of facial cleanser contains numerous mild surfactants suspended in the aqueous phase. Upon contact with makeup residues or dirt left on the skin, these cleansing molecules naturally aggregate to form microscopic micelles, a spherical chemical structure that allows for the rapid and efficient removal of impurities. Micellar water thus provides a simple and quick way to remove all impurities that have accumulated on the surface of the epidermis, resulting in clean skin.

  1. Apply onto a cotton pad, a makeup remover pad or a cleansing wipe some micellar cleansing product, where the micelles will adhere to it;

    Different micellar formulas exist depending on skin types.

  2. Gently sweep the damp cotton first over the closed eyes and lips, then across the entire face and neck. Try not to excessively rub or pull the skin on the face, as this could cause irritation;

  3. For removing eye and lip makeup that is water-resistant, gently press and hold the cotton pad on your closed eyes for a few seconds to help "loosen" the makeup before wiping it off;

    Ensure you remove all eye makeup before cleansing the rest of the face.

  4. Depending on the amount of makeup and impurities accumulated on the skin, it will be necessary to repeat the process until the cotton comes out without traces;

  5. Although rinsing is generally not required, you should consider washing off the product after use if you have sensitive skin or eyes ;

  6. For a thorough cleanse, you may proceed with the use of a second cleanser for the face, such as a foaming solution or a milky cleanser, as part of a double cleansing routine.

Micellar Water: How often should it be used?

A cleansing liquid, micellar water should be incorporated as the first step in a skincare routine during the cleansing phase, before proceeding to the application of other cosmetic products. On a daily basis, the skin's surface can become covered with all sorts of impurities, in addition to makeup and skincare products, including pollution particles, pollen, dust, excess sebum and all other kinds of dirt. It is then important to remove them before going to bed with a suitable gentle cleanser. As such, micellar water can be used in the evening before the night cream. It can also be used again in the morning, followed by a moisturiser and sun protection.
