How to choose your under-eye concealer and when to apply it?
Before pondering on how to apply one's concealer, it is crucial to select the right colour and to know when to apply it.
Select a concealer colour one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. A shade that is too dark can accentuate the appearance of dark circles, while a shade that is too light may not effectively conceal them.
When should it be applied? The answer is simply after the foundation. Indeed, many make the mistake of applying the concealer directly after the moisturiser. In reality, if the concealer is applied beforehand, it risks losing its corrective and illuminating action. In other words, it's as if no concealer was applied at all because the foundation completely covers it. The ideal procedure is therefore to first apply the moisturising and protective skin cream, then the foundation, BB or CC cream all over the face, and finally the concealer under the eyes.
How to apply a concealer?
As mentioned earlier, before applying a concealer, one must first attend to the complexion. Once you have applied your foundation, place a few drops of concealer, moving from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eye. If your dark circles are very pronounced, opt for the triangle method to provide better coverage and brighten your gaze. Then gently blend using a makeup brush or sponge.
Typology Tinted Under-eye Concealer.
At Typology, we have formulated a tinted under-eye concealer that is a hybrid between skincare and makeup. In addition to diminishing the appearance of your dark circles, it reduces them over time through the active ingredients present in its formula:
Caffeine.
When we consume coffee, our sleep can be disrupted, which may be the cause of the emergence or worsening of dark circles. However, studies have proven that the topical application of caffeine improves the appearance of dark circles. This paradox can be explained by the fact that caffeine stimulates blood circulation. Furthermore, it promotes lipolysis which helps to reduce under-eye bags.
The cornflower hydrosol.
Thecornflower hydrosol is renowned for its decongestant virtues that help to reduce under-eye puffiness. By facilitating blood circulation, cornflower hydrosol stimulates the removal of accumulated fluids in the extracellular environment in the eye contour area. It thus helps to soothe tired and swollen eyes. It also reduces the pigmentation of dark circles, making the gaze refreshed and illuminated. Moreover, cornflower hydrosol provides a anti-inflammatory and soothing action for the thin and delicate skin around the eyes.
Niacinamide.
Theniacinamide, or vitamin B3, helps to reduce the appearance of blue circlesbystimulating blood circulationand aids in achieving amore even complexion.
When our tinted under-eye concealer is used as a corrector, the niacinamide helps to combat blemishes due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
It also helps torestore the skin's barrier function and contributes to the healing process.
