The vegetable oil of plum and its method of extraction.
Like the majority of vegetable oils, plum oil is derived from the first cold pressing. The plum, botanically known as Prunus Domestica, is cultivated for the production of Agen prunes. The process of obtaining this vegetable oil involves several stages.
Harvesting of the fruits, from mid-August to mid-September, when the fruits have a beautiful deep purple colour with characteristic bluish reflections.
Cleaning through suction, drying, and hulling of the kernels to isolate the almonds.
Crushing of the kernels through mechanical pressure. This step is carried out at room temperature and does not involve any chemical reaction. We obtain an unpurified plum oil.
Purification of the oil through decantation and filtration (no chemical reaction is performed).
This extraction method allows for the procurement of a 100% pure and natural oil, preserving all the active principles of the kernels. The plum oil thus extracted is used in the skincare and haircare industry, where it is incorporated into moisturising, nourishing, and softening treatments. In addition to its benefits, it imparts a gentle frangipane fragrance to the products.
The vegetable oil of plum, a treatment with multiple benefits.
In skincare and haircare, this vegetable oil is particularly favoured for its antioxidant power and its ability to protect cells from free radicals generated by UV exposure and pollution. Moreover, rich in omega 6 and omega 9, it also provides nutrition and elasticity, and prevents dehydration by strengthening the skin's barrier function . It is thus highly recommended for the care of dehydrated skin and hair and/or those regularly exposed to oxidation factors (pollution, UV). Furthermore, it is non-comedogenic: it does not clog pores. Its texture penetrates quickly and leaves the skin soft and supple, and fragranced with the characteristic almond scent of plum oil.
