Hazelnut vegetable oil, the ally of combination to oily skin types.

Hazelnut vegetable oil, the ally of combination to oily skin types.

There are few vegetable oils recommended for combination to oily skin types. Like jojoba oil, hazelnut oil is one of these rare oily ingredients to apply to this type of skin to regulate excess sebum. Its real added value is its "dry" oil texture, which makes it very penetrating and gives a silky touch to the skin without ever leaving a greasy film.

What is combination skin?

This refers to a type of skin characterised by a greasy area in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) with dilated pores and potential blemishes (blackheads, spots).

On the other areas of the face (cheeks, temples and eye contour), the skin is normal to dry and may exhibit redness, occasional tightness and a sometimes rough texture.

As the name suggests, combination skin is indeed, a blend of two skin types. The oily area is due to a significant amount of sebum, while the dry areas (temples, cheeks) are a result of a lack of sebum and a deficiency in lipids (essential fatty acids).

What is oily skin?

An oily skin is typically shiny and greasy. These characteristic traits are due to an excess sebum production. Secreted by the sebaceous glands, it contributes to the protection of the skin. However, in large quantities, it creates a favourable environment for the formation of blackheads and pimples.

Furthermore, the skin appears dull and thick, the skin texture is uneven and the pores are visible and enlarged. If you recognise yourself in these descriptions, you evidently have oily skin, but fear not! A suitable beauty routine can help you cleanse your epidermis to regain healthy skin.

Why use hazelnut oil for combination to oily skin types?

Although it is suitable for all skin types, hazelnut oil is particularly favoured by combination to oily skin. Indeed, obtained by cold pressing, it is particularly rich in monounsaturated fatty acids such as the oleic acid (also known as omega 9), present in a mass fraction ranging from 71 to 87%. Now, this lipid is part of the natural composition of sebum, a substance secreted by the body to counteract the dryness of the skin and hair. Oleic acid is therefore recognised by the constituents of the skin, and thus penetrates deeply to regulate sebum production by the sebaceous glands.

Furthermore, thanks to its dry texture, hazelnut vegetable oil has the advantage of leaving no oily residue. It is non-comedogenic (comedogenicity index = 0), meaning it does not clog pores and therefore does not promote the appearance of blackheads. It is an excellent ally for combination to oily skin types. Ourhazelnut vegetable oilis derived from the cold pressing of hazelnuts grown inFranceusing organic farming methods. This treatment can serve as a night cream, to be used after a serum among other things. Simply apply a few drops of oil to your face using a cotton pad or directly with your fingers.

Furthermore, due to its sebum-regulating activity on combination to oily skin, hazelnut oil is also included in two treatments designed for these skin types:

  • Thepurifying botanical blendwithpeony, whichpurifies and regenerates the skin during your sleep. This serum is applied at the end of your evening beauty routine, just before bedtime, on clean and dry skin.

  • The anti-blemish serum with 1% bakuchiol aims to reduce spots due to its antibacterial action. This treatment can be applied morning and evening, preferably at the end of the routine, before the day/night cream.
