Hazelnut Oil: The Ally of Combination to Oily Skin.

Hazelnut Oil: The Ally of Combination to Oily Skin.

There are few vegetable oils recommended for combination to oily skin. Like jojoba oil, hazelnut oil is one of the rare oily ingredients to apply to this type of skin to regulate excess sebum. Its advantage is really its "dry" oil texture, which allows it to penetrate the skin deeply and give it a silky feel without leaving a greasy film.

What is Combination Skin?

It is a type of skin characterized by an oily part on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) with dilated pores and possible imperfections (blackheads, spots).

On the other parts of the face (cheeks, temples and eye contour), the skin has a normal to dry texture and can present redness, occasional tightness and a sometimes rough grain.

Mixed skin is therefore, as its name indicates, a mixture of two skin types. The oily area is explained by a large quantity of sebum, while the dry areas (temples, cheeks) result from a lack of sebum and a deficiency in lipids (essential fatty acids).

What is Oily Skin?

Oily skin is generally shiny and oily. These characteristics are explained by the excess production of sebum. Secreted by the sebaceous glands, it helps protect the skin. However, in large quantities, sebum creates favorable conditions for the formation of blackheads and pimples.

In addition, the skin appears dull and thick. The skin texture is irregular and the pores are visible and dilated. If you recognize yourself in these descriptions, you obviously have oily skin, but fear not! A proper beauty routine can help you cleanse your skin and restore it to a healthy state.

Why Use Hazelnut Oil for Combination to Oily Skin?

Although it is suitable for all skin types, hazelnut oil is more popular with combination to oily skin. Indeed, obtained by cold pressing, it is particularly rich in monounsaturated fatty acids such as oleic acid (also known as omega 9), present in a mass proportion ranging from 71 to 87%. This lipid is part of the natural composition of sebum, a substance secreted by the body to alleviate the dryness of the skin and hair. The oleic acid is recognized by the skin, and thus the oil is able to penetrate deeply to regulate the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands.

Moreover, thanks to its dry texture, the vegetable oil of hazelnut has the advantage of not leaving any fatty film. Non-comedogenic (comedogenic index = 0), it does not block the pores and thus does not support the appearance of black spots. It is an excellent ally for combination to oily skin. Our hazelnut oil is derived from the cold pressing of hazelnut fruits grown in France according to an organic farming method. It can be used as a night cream or after a serum among other care routines. Simply apply a few drops of oil on your face with a cotton pad or directly with your fingers.

Because of its sebum-regulating activity on combination to oily skin, hazelnut oil is also present in two care products intended for these skin types:

  • The Purifying Botanical Assembly with Peony, which purifies and regenerates the skin while you sleep. This serum should be applied at the end of your evening beauty routine, just before bedtime on clean, dry skin.

  • The Anti-Blemish Serum with 1% Bakuchiol, which is designed to reduce pimples thanks to its anti-bacterial action. This treatment can be applied morning and evening, rather at the end of the routine, before the day/night cream.
