Originating from Asia, Albizia julibrissin was imported to Europe in the 18th century by an Italian naturalist, Filippo DEGLI ALBIZZI, who was captivated by the tree's beauty following his expedition to Constantinople. Such was his impact that the tree's generic name "Albizia" was attributed in his honour. Indeed, it produces delicate filamentous red flowers during the summer. Albizia is used in cosmetics for its bark, the extract of which restores the firmness and radiance of the skin by inhibiting the degradation of dermal fibres and strengthening the microvascular network. Indeed, Albizia julibrissin extract combats the skin signs of fatigue by fighting against the phenomena of glycation and glycoxidation. Glycation is a chemical reaction where excess sugar combines with the protein molecular structures of the skin, disrupting their structure and causing the elasticity of blood vessels to be lost.
