L’huile d’amande douce pour combattre naturellement l’acné ?

Almond oil to naturally combat acne?

In cosmetics, its I.N.C.I. name is "Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil". This vegetable oil is the ultimate ally for dry skin. It nourishes, soothes and softens the skin. However, it can also have benefits for combination skin, whether or not it has imperfections.

Acne: Origin, Causes and Definition.

This refers to a skin condition that is characterised by the formation of red and/or white spots, sometimes painful, on the surface of the epidermis. Acne typically begins in adolescence and can persist into adulthood. The spots tend to form on the face, back, neck and chest.

Acne is primarily caused by a dysfunction of the sebaceous glands. These glands are responsible for the production of sebum, a fatty substance that contributes to the establishment of the hydrolipidic barrier. An overproduction of sebum or the production of poor-quality sebum can block the pores of the epidermis, promoting acne outbreaks and open comedones, also known as blackheads. This accumulation of sebum on the skin will encourage the development and multiplication of the inflammatory bacteria in acne, P.Acnes.

The sweet almond oil and its potential benefits on acne.

Obtained through cold pressing, sweet almond vegetable oil is particularly rich inmonounsaturated fatty acids such as theoleic acid (also known asomega 9), present in a mass fraction ranging from 62 to 86%.Indeed,this lipid is a natural component of sebum, a substance secreted by the body to counteract skin and hair dryness. Oleic acid is therefore recognised by skin constituents, and penetrates deeply toregulate sebum production by the sebaceous glands. Sweet almond oil thus helps to limit hyperseborrhea, which is one of the factors triggering acne outbreaks.

It should be noted that this vegetable oil is moderately comedogenic. Its comedogenicity index is 2. Sweet almond oil should be used with caution on skin prone to blemishes.

In fact, thesweet almond oil is perfectly suitable for combination skin but is not recommended for oily skin.

Furthermore, acne spots tend to leave marks or scars on the epidermis. Sweet almond oil was already used in traditional medicine to promote healing. It has restorative properties when applied to the skin, making it beneficial for reducing acne scars.
