    Beautiful colour, poor performance

About Tinted lip & cheek balm

Let me preface this by saying that I will likely repurchase this the moment I finish my first tube. The colour "violet prune" is divine. If you're a summer - someone with cool colouring but low contrast - looking for something natural yet sophisticated, this shade is for you. I've stopped using all my other balms and lipsticks except the reds - this, for me, beats any other shade. It's fresh yet grown-up. I'm in love. Despite this, it still gets only three stars from me. Two major issues: first, the staying power is abysmal. I have to reapply it on my lips nearly constantly. It disappears from my cheeks after two hours or so too. Second, this is marketed first and foremost as a balm, and on that score, it fails. My lips get dry very easily, so I'm not surprised that this feels a bit too thin and I wouldn't consider it a major drawback (although it is possible to formulate a tinted lip balm that's moisturising enough for me - ByTerry have done it with their "Berry Bloom"). The inclusion of peppermint oil, on the other hand, baffles me. I know it feels nice and cooling, but peppermint oil is guaranteed to dry out your lips. It's one of the worst things you can put in a lip balm! TL;DR: Gorgeous colour, poor staying power, not nearly moisturising enough. I very much hope Typology will reformulate this with a more durable pigment and no peppermint oil.

    Pretty balm

About Tinted lip & cheek balm

I am very fair-skinned and purchased the shade Dusty Pink, which is a lovely muted rose, very subtle and flattering for a natural finish. It's very sheer and doesn't last too long on the lips but I enjoy using it, and would like to try the plum colour next. I hope Typology will add some more colours to this range, a neutral brown would be lovely!

    Lovely lip balm

About Tinted lip & cheek balm

I really like this lip balm - feels great and the colour isn’t too much but more than just clear.

    Disappointed

About Tinted lip & cheek balm

It was difficult to see online exactly what the colour of this tinted balm was, and whilst the texture and shine are great I am disappointed because it is not the colour I was hoping for.
