Xerosis

Xerosis, a severe skin dryness, is characterised by rough skin that feels tight and may sometimes peel. It results from a lack of lipids and water in the stratum corneum, impairing the skin barrier. The responsible factors are numerous: ageing, cold and dry climate, overly hot baths, use of harsh cleansers, or certain dermatological conditions such as eczema. The use of moisturising and lipid-replenishing care helps to reduce the discomfort associated with xerosis.
FAQ about xerosis

How to identify skin affected by xerosis?

A skin affected by xerosis appears rough, dull, sometimes with scales and sensations of tightness and discomfort.

Yes, it is possible to suffer from xerosis of the scalp, which can cause itching and flaking similar to dry dandruff.

Should hot water be avoided in cases of xerosis?
