Benzophenone 3 (Oxybenzon)

INCI name: Benzophenone-3.
Function: Stabilizing agent, UV absorber, UV filter.
Origin: Chemical.
Concentration allowed by European regulations : Up to 6% as UV filter and 0.5% as formula protector in finished cosmetic products.
Where to find it / them? : Toilet waters, adult sun creams, nail polish, deodorants, mists, shower gels, BB creams, foundations, concealers, scrubs, shampoos, sun lip balms, face creams, lip glosses, masks, tanning oils, face cleansers, conditioners, concealers.
Risks to health: Suspected endocrine disruptor, potential skin irritant, potential photo-allergenic, suspected skin penetration.
Risks to the environment : Suspected aquatic ecotoxicity.
More information : Anti-UVA and UVB sun filter. Unfavorable opinion for a use of products with a concentration of 6% on children under 10 years old. Oxybenzone sunscreen prohibited in Hawaii, Sweden and Canada.
