Essential oil of clary sage

Commonly known as: Salvia Sclarea Oil (I.N.C.I.), also known as Woundwort, and All-Heal.
Botanical name: Salvia sclarea.
Extraction process: Distillation by steam stripping.
Family: Lamiaceae.
Part of the plant extracted: Leaves and flowering tops.
Location: Western Asia (Turkey, Caucasus, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan), Southern and Central Europe (Germany, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Greece, Yugoslavia, Spain, Portugal), North America (United States).
Flowering: From June to September.
Provenance, origin: France.
Phytochemical composition: Linalyl acetate, linalool, germacrene-D, alpha-terpineol, sclareol, limonene, geraniol.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Liquid; Colour: Colourless to yellow; Scent: Herbaceous, with notes of hay and tobacco.
Physical characteristics: Density = 0.890 - 0.908.
Benefits: Tonic, sebum-regulating, soothing, stimulates hair growth, purifying.
Concerns: All skin types, particularly oily skin and skin prone to acne; All hair types, particularly scalps with dandruff and hair loss.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it's recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, away from heat.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. Not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not to be used by children. Do not use pure essential oil on the skin or mucous membranes. Essential oils should not be applied to the eyes, the area around the eyes, or inside the ears.

Note: It is advisable to test the essential oil before using it (two drops in the crook of the elbow for at least 24 hours to ensure there is no reaction).
