Niaouli Essential Oil

Commonly known as: Melaleuca Quinquenervia Oil (I.N.C.I.), Melaleuca viridiflora var. rubriflora.
Botanical name: Melaleuca quinquenervia cineolifera.
Extraction process: Steam distillation extraction.
Family: Myrtaceae.
Part of the plant extracted: Young leafy branches.
Location: Originally from Australia, New Caledonia, and New Guinea; it is now widespread in French Guiana, East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania), Egypt, Cameroon, Benin, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Madagascar.
Flowering: Throughout the year.
Provenance, origin: Madagascar.
Phytochemical composition: 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), alpha-terpineol, limonene, alpha-pinene, viridiflorol, geraniol, linalool, eugenol.
Sensorial properties: Appearance: Clear, mobile liquid; Colour: Colourless to pale yellow; Odour: Fresh, aromatic, cineolic.
Physical characteristics: Density = 0.904 - 0.925.
Benefits: Purifying, sanitising, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, healing, toning, regenerating, fragrant.
Concerns: Skin with imperfections, skin prone to acne, oily skin; All hair types.

Method of Preservation

Essential oils are sensitive to UV radiation. That's why it's recommended to store them in an amber glass bottle, away from heat.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

Potentially allergenic. When applied topically,do not useininfants under 3 monthsand inpregnant and/or breastfeeding women.

Potential "oestrogen-like" effect, not recommended in cases of mastopathy or hormone-dependent cancers (breast, ovary, endometrium)

Some natural compounds found in this essential oil, such as limonene, may pose an allergy risk for certain sensitive individuals when the essential oil is incorporated into a cosmetic composition (according to the 7th Amendment of the European Directive on cosmetic products (2003/15/EC)).

As a general rule, always conduct an application test of your preparation on the inside of your elbow, at least 48 hours before using it.
