Unlike the skin on the rest of the face, the upper layer of the lips is thin and lacks a hydrolipidic film. Therefore, it is sensitive and can quickly become dry, revealing dehydration lines. To counteract this, the use of lip serum is recommended. How should this type of product be used? Let's focus.

What is a lip serum?
A lip serum can offer various benefits depending on its composition, ranging from hydration to protection, and even volume enhancement for a plump mouth. It is typically an aqueous or emulsified gel that helps maintain the hydration level of cells and naturally plump the lips, without resorting to injections. Therefore, it can contain hydrating compounds (hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, aloe vera...), protectors against external aggressions and free radicals (vitamin E, vitamin C...), plumping agents (chilli extract, pepper extract, peptides...) or even nourishing ingredients (vegetable oils, squalane...).
How to use the lip serum?
For visible results, the lip serum is incorporated into one's daily beauty routine . It is typically applied before a tinted balm, a tinted oil or a lipstick. Depending on its texture and packaging, the application method varies:
If its consistency is rather liquid and it is packaged in a bottle with a dropper, pour a few drops onto the tip of your finger before spreading the treatment onto the lips, which should be previously cleaned and dried. Tap to allow all the active ingredients to penetrate and smooth around the lip contour with regular movements that start from the inside and move towards the outside of the face, following the line of the lips.
If the serum's texture is more creamy and it is sold with a brush, use this to spread it on the lips that have been previously cleaned and dried. You can then deposit a small amount of the product on your fingers using the brush and apply the treatment around the lip contour following the procedure previously described.
When should you use the lip serum?
The lip serum can be used daily, morning and evening. It is recommended to apply it throughout the year, as lips can suffer damage due to climatic variations and daily habits. Indeed, heat can assault the lips, causing inflammation and sometimes even the appearance of swelling and blisters. Conversely, cold and icy winds are factors of dehydration and are known to cause chapping and sores at the corners of the lips. Added to this are habits that contribute to lip dryness such as lack of hydration (not drinking enough water during the day), smoking, and too frequent moistening of the lips with saliva etc...
