Bitter almond plant extract

Commonly known as:   Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil (I.N.C.I.), Apricot Kernel Vegetable Oil.

Botanical name:   Prunus armeniaca.

Extraction process:   First cold pressing.

Family:   Rosacea.

Extracted part of the plant:   Almond contained within the kernel.

Cultivation area, origin:   Originally from the mountains of Eastern Iran, Turkestan, and North-West India. Today, it is cultivated almost everywhere in the world.

Blooming:   From February to April.

Origin, provenance:  

Phytochemical composition:   Polyunsaturated fatty acids (linoleic acid), monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid), saturated fatty acids (palmitic acid), vitamins (A and E), phytosterols (beta-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol), triacylglycerides.

Sensory properties:   Appearance: Oily liquid; Colour: Colourless to light yellow; Odour: Characteristic; Feel: Greasy.

Physical properties:   Quality: 100% pure, virgin and of natural origin ingredients; Derived from organic farming; Density: 0.910 - 0.930; Comedogenicity index: 2; Saponification index: 185 - 195; Oxidative potential: Stable.

Concerns:   Hydrating, softening, fragrant, antioxidant, emollient, nourishing, soothing.

Effect:   All skin types, particularly dry and irritated skin; All hair types, especially dry hair.

Method of Preservation

Store in a sealed packaging, in a cool, dry place, protected from light.

Contraindications, Usage Precautions

There are no contraindications to the cosmetic use of bitter almond extract. It can be used by pregnant women and young children. Avoid contact with the eyes.
