There are over 600 varieties of strawberries, the most well-known of which is the Gariguette, accounting for 20% of global production. The strawberry leaf, rich in polyphenols including flavonoids, is an ingredient used in cosmetics. Its high polyphenol content allows it to improve complexion by toning the skin's micro-vessels, thus contributing to better cellular oxygenation. The presence of these polyphenols also gives it antioxidant properties, helping to combat the damage that UVA rays can induce (generation of free radicals). It also refines the skin's texture through an astringent effect, reducing the diameter of pores due to the presence of tannins. Finally, strawberry extract also helps to brighten and even out the complexion thanks to its anti-tyrosinase properties.
