Why should one maintain their beard?
The beard, much like hair, structures the face and plays a crucial role in a person's physical appearance. However, it can sometimes appear rough and give a neglected appearance. The primary factor when the beard becomes brittle is none other than shaving. Indeed, during regrowth, in order to penetrate the epidermis and the horny layer, the hairs thicken, harden and gain strength, hence their sometimes coarse and unpleasant touch. Beard hairs thus tend to be rougher than head hair. Furthermore, poor beard maintenance (lack of hydration, use of unsuitable tools and materials, lack of care during shaving...) enhances its rough appearance. Dirt accumulates in the hairs and beard dandruff can appear, giving it an unattractive appearance and causing itching.
Which treatments should be prioritised for maintaining one's beard?
Today, care products to cleanse, hydrate and nourish beard hair are increasingly present in the cosmetic market. Among these, we mainly find three categories of products:
Beard cleansers:
beard shampoos , these treatments help to cleanse the skin underneath and unclog the pores. The formulas applied afterwards, such as the beard oil, then penetrate deeper into the hair follicles. Some products are specific to the beard, but you can also use cleansing gels for the face. In this regard, you could, for example, apply our purifying cleansing gel. Concentrated in purifying active ingredients like zinc PCA, this cleansing gel sanitises the skin, regulates sebum production and limits the development of imperfections. Once a week, consider exfoliating your hairy area with a beard exfoliant to remove dead cells accumulated on the skin surface, and thus prevent the development of ingrown hairs under the beard, cleanse the skin and stimulate hair growth.
Beard Oils:
These treatments are typically blends of various plant oils with one or more essential oils. Their benefits are numerous and depend on the plant oils chosen for their formulation. Depending on these, the beard oils can be primarily nourishing and/or moisturising and/or soothing... They may also contain active ingredients aimed at accelerating hair growth such as basil extract or castor oil.
Beard balms:
Beard balms are also composed of vegetable oils and essential oils, much like beard oils, but additionally contain one or more structuring agents such as a butter or vegetable wax. Balms are thick and firm to the touch. They are primarily used to nourish the hair and facilitate beard styling. Unruly hairs will be easy to tame using this type of product.
Please note : Beard balm is primarily intended for men with an already established beard, whereas beard oil can be used on a budding beard. Beard balm should not be used for massaging the skin as it may risk making the beard oily and shiny.
The Typology Beard Oil.
Our beard oil contains several plant-based oils: hemp, castor, argan, sunflower. It also includes green mandarin peel essential oil, as well as Scots pine needle essential oil. The latter gives this oil a fresh forest and pine sap fragrance. Our beard oil is packaged in a bottle equipped with a dosing pipette. Simply take a few drops in the palm of your hands and rub them to warm and distribute the product. Then apply the treatment to the hairy area of the facial skin. During application, massage the beard in the direction of hair growth, that is, from roots to tips, to promote its penetration.
Tip : For pronounced beards, using a beard brush or comb can facilitate the application of beard oil.
