What Products Can I Use To Care for My Beard?

If you have decided to grow your beard, it is necessary to use the right care. This way you can prevent the appearance of dandruff and at the same time benefit from a soft and silky beard. Whether it's shampoo, balm or beard oil, here are all our tips for choosing the right care.

Why Should You Care for Your Beard?

The beard, like hair, structures the face and plays an important role in the appearance of a person. Nevertheless, sometimes it looks rough and can cause an unkempt appearance. The first factor that leads to brittle beard growth is shaving. During regrowth, the hair becomes thicker, harder and stronger. This leads to a rough appearance that doesn't always feel comfortable. That's why beard hair tends to be rougher than other body hair. Poor beard care (insufficient moisture, unsuitable tools and materials, lack of care when shaving, etc.) also causes the beard to become rougher. Dirt accumulates in the hair and beard dandruff can occur, giving the beard an unsightly appearance and causing itching.

Which Care Products Are Best for Beard Care?

Nowadays, there are more and more care products on the cosmetics market that clean, moisturize and nourish the beard hair. These include three product categories in particular:

  • Beard Cleanser:

Also known as beard shampoo, these care products cleanse the skin under the beard and unclog the pores. The subsequently applied formulas such as beard oil can then penetrate deeper into the hair follicles. Some products are specifically for the beard, but you can sometimes use cleansing gels for the face as well. With this in mind, you can use our clarifying cleansing gel. This cleansing gel, focused on nourishing ingredients such as zinc PCA, clarifies the skin, regulates sebum production and limits the development of impurities. Remember to exfoliate your hair area once a week with a beard scrub to remove dead skin cells on the skin surface, prevent ingrown hairs under the beard, cleanse the skin and stimulate hair growth.

  • Beard Oil:

These grooming products are usually mixtures of various vegetable oils with one or more essential oils. Their effects are numerous and depend on the vegetable oils selected for their preparation. Depending on which oils are used, beard oils may be more nourishing and/or moisturizing and/or soothing. They may also contain active ingredients designed to accelerate hair growth, such as basil extract or castor oil.

  • Beard balm:

Like beard oil, beard balms are also made of vegetable oils and essential oils, but they also contain one or more structuring agents such as a butter or vegetable wax. Balms are thick and have a firm feel. They are mainly used to condition the hair and make combing the beard easier. Unruly hair can be easily tamed with these products.

To note: Beard balm is aimed primarily at men with an already pronounced beard growth, while beard oil can also be used for incipient beard growth. Beard balm should not be massaged into the skin; otherwise there is a risk that the beard will appear greasy and shiny.

The Typology Beard Oil

Our beard oil contains various vegetable oils: hemp, castor, argan and sunflower. It also contains essential oil from the peel of green tangerine and essential oil from the needle of Scots pine. The latter gives the oil a fresh scent of forest and pine sap. Our beard oil is packaged in a bottle with a dispensing pipette. Simply remove a few drops into the palms of your hands and rub to warm and distribute the product. Then apply the care to the hairy area of the facial skin. While applying, massage the beard in the direction of hair growth, i.e. from the roots to the tips, to promote penetration into the skin.

Tip: For pronounced beards, the use of a beard brush or comb can facilitate the application of the beard oil.
