L'hydrolat de menthe poivrée pour resserrer les pores dilatés.

Peppermint hydrosol for tightening enlarged pores.

Peppermint hydrosol helps to unclog pores in the event of excess sebum. These are tightened and the skin barrier is thus strengthened. But what causes enlarged pores? How to use peppermint hydrosol to refine one's skin texture?

What exactly are enlarged pores?

Pores are channels connected to sebaceous glands through which sebum flows. The dilated pores generally affect skin that is oily, as well as combination skin. They are most often observed in the T-zone of the face (forehead, nose and chin).

Studies have shown that there is a correlation between sebum production and pore size, meaning that the more sebum the skin produces, the more the pores widen and become visible. However, when pores dilate, they promote the appearance of blackheads and spots.

What are the factors involved in enlarged pores?

Two types of causes are responsible for dilated pores :

  • Internal causes : Sex, genetic predisposition, skin ageing, overproduction of sebum (hyperseborrhea), hormonal fluctuations;

  • External causes : Chronic exposure to UV rays, use of comedogenic xenobiotics, poor skin hygiene (accumulation of dirt and impurities on the skin's surface).

How does peppermint hydrosol act against enlarged pores?

Thepeppermint hydrosol helps to unclog your pores in case of excess sebum. These are tightened and your skin barrier is strengthened. This hydrosol also regulates excess sebum and prevents the oily and shiny appearance of acne-prone skin.

Furthermore, this floral water can sometimes contain a non-negligible amount of menthol, a compound with proven antibacterial properties. This helps to combat the spread of P. acnes and thus purifies acne-prone skin.

Note : The advantage of floral water compared to peppermint essential oil is that it is non-allergenic and can be used by all skin types, as well as by pregnant and breastfeeding women and children.
