Hyaluronic Acid: The Active Ingredient Against Skin Aging.

A biomolecule naturally present in the dermis, hyaluronic acid is a hydrophilic sugar with remarkable humectant properties. It acts like a molecular sponge: it is able to retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water. In skin care, it prevents dehydration of the epidermis and the appearance of wrinkles. Plastic surgeons use it as an injection to fill in the signs of aging. Let's focus on one of the most effective anti-aging active ingredients.

Hyaluronic Acid Ensures the Hydration of the Dermis.

Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. It is mainly produced by the fibroblasts of the dermis, but epidermal cells also synthesize it. The dermis contains 50% of the total hyaluronic acid present in the body. Thanks to its remarkable humectant properties, this molecule acts like a sponge and retains water; it thus ensures the hydration of the skin and gives it a plumped-up appearance.

Over the years, not only does its content decrease but its quality also changes. Each decade, we lose about 6% of hyaluronic acid. Thus, at the age of 50, the stock of hyaluronic acid will decrease by half. This drastic drop in hyaluronic acid leads to an atrophy of the fatty pockets located in the depth of the dermis, which is the cause of the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the skin's surface.

When injected, hyaluronic acid fills in wrinkles and gives the skin a smooth appearance. Nevertheless, if you wish to use a less invasive method, contained in cosmetic care products, this active ingredient is also very effective in fighting the signs of aging.

The “Anti-Aging” Virtues of Hyaluronic Acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizing and replenishing component of the active ingredients that tighten the skin and fight the signs of aging. Its effect depends on its size:

  • High molecular weight hyaluronic acid:

As its name suggests, this molecule is too large to penetrate deep into the skin barrier. It therefore acts on the surface of the epidermis and forms a protective veil against external aggressions and dehydration. Incorporated into a facial care product, this form of hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate the superficial layers of the skin and to reduce wrinkles and fine lines caused by expression and dehydration. It is particularly recommended to bring freshness to the complexion.

  • Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid:

In contrast, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is a micro-molecule that penetrates deep into the skin. It infiltrates the layers of the epidermis where it captures and gels water for a plumping effect on the surface and maximum hydration. It boosts its own production by the fibroblasts. It reduces the wrinkles already present and prevents future skin aging

Our Hyaluronic Acid Treatments To Reduce the Appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles.

Our moisturizing serum formulated with 3% hyaluronic acid is an ultra-concentrated formula to be applied morning and night to erase wrinkles and tone the skin.

Combined with aloe vera for an overall moisturizing action, the moisturizing toner helps regulate the skin's pH level after the cleansing/makeup removal steps and reduces fine dehydration lines.

The nourishing face cream is enriched with lipid-replenishing and moisturizing active ingredients and is composed of 98% natural ingredients. It restores the skin's suppleness and reduces the appearance of expression lines.
