What exactly is glittering oil?
Glittering oils are highly favoured products during the summer. They contain glitter (micas) or mother-of-pearl, which create a shiny and sparkling effect on the skin. There are different sizes of mother-of-pearl particles, allowing for various light effects. Glittering oils are often used to add a touch of radiance to the skin of the body, face or hair.
They are often enhanced with a light, appetising or floral fragrance. Formulated based on different vegetable oils, such as the sweet almond oil (INCI: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil), the argan oil (INCI: Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil), the jojoba oil (INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil), or the coconut oil (INCI: Cocos Nucifera Oil), they often possess several beneficial properties for the skin.
How to apply a glittering oil?
Glitter oil is a treatment that can generally be applied to the face, body or hair, depending on your preference. This treatment provides a festive touch and can, for example, be used when going to the beach or a party. Here are some tips for applying glitter oil.
By small touches: soak the tips of your fingers in it, then lightly tap the raised areas, such as the tops of the shoulders, the collarbones, the bridge of the nose and the cheekbones. Don't hesitate to also apply a small amount to the tips of your hair to achieve beautiful highlights.
Mixed with your moisturising cream: blend a few drops of glittery oil into a dollop of your regular moisturising cream before applying it to your face to achieve a subtle and satin-like effect.
Spread all over the body : apply the glittering oil to your body through circular movements that will enhance its absorption by the skin, and amplify its moisturising and nourishing actions. Then wait a few minutes before putting on your clothes to avoid leaving marks on them.
Note : Glittery oils do not provide protection from UV rays and do not exempt one from applying a broad-spectrum sun care product before exposing oneself to the sun.
Which glittering oil should one choose to enhance their tan?
Today, we encounter a myriad of glittering oils designed to enhance tanning in the cosmetics market. Several criteria can assist you in making your choice.
The sensitivity of your skin : if you have sensitive skin, we advise you to opt for an oil that contains neither allergens nor fragrance in order to limit the risk of irritation.
The texture : depending on your skin type, you should favour a rich and nourishing glittery oil for dry skin, or a light and dry one for oily skin.
The intensity of the shine : Glittering oils contain pearls of varying sizes, which modulate the intensity of the shine achieved. Depending on the result you wish to achieve, you will opt for a treatment that is more or less sparkling or discreet.
The colour : today, we find golden, silver, rosy, coppery glittering oils... This variety of shades offers you great freedom.
The ingredients : to combine the practical with the pleasant, you can turn to a glittering oil containing antioxidants or other beneficial actives for the skin (soothing, firming...).
