Cleansing Balm: What are the benefits?

It is now well-known that sleeping with makeup on is detrimental to the skin, and it is therefore crucial that everything is removed properly. However, with micellar water, wipes, gel, oil, milk, and recently, cleansing balm, the choice has become difficult. Nevertheless, with its versatility, the oily balm is increasingly favoured in the skincare market, presented as a gentle yet powerful makeup removal solution. But why choose to use it over another type of makeup remover?

What is a cleansing balm?

Makeup removal is an essential and non-negotiable step in a skincare routine. Breakouts, premature ageing, dehydration, irritation, eye infection... sleeping with makeup on can have visible consequences, as well as hinder certain skin processes. In addition to micellar water, oil, gel or milk makeup remover each with their own particularity, we also have the cleansing balm. This is a type of light cleanser based on oil and water-free that comes in a hybrid texture. Regardless of its appearance, compact or buttery, the balm-care melts into a soft oil when warmed by the skin through massage. It then emulsifies into a milky consistency once water is added, a means to facilitate rinsing.

Why choose a cleansing balm?

By choosing to incorporate it into your skincare routine, your skin will reap numerous benefits beyond its gentle and non-invasive cleansing method.

Advantage No. 1: It effectively cleanses the skin.

The oils and emollients contained in a cleansing balm gently remove traces of makeup from the face and eyes (even waterproof formulas that are difficult to remove), sunscreens, excess sebum, pollution particles and any other lipophilic impurities that may have accumulated throughout the day on the skin's surface, without disrupting the skin's natural balance. Indeed, the fatty substances present in the oily balm formula attract and capture liposoluble elements.

Benefit No. 2: It keeps the skin hydrated.

With its unique and rich composition, the cleansing balm does not dry out the skin. On the contrary, it helps to strengthen the skin's barrier function, leaving a thin film of hydration to retain moisture within the skin. The skin is then soft, smooth and hydrated, even after rinsing, without any greasy or heavy effect.

Comprised entirely of natural ingredients and certified organic, our cleansing balm is enriched with buriti oil (INCI: Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil), camellia oil (INCI: Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil), sunflower oil (INCI: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil), coconut oil (INCI: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil) and sunflower wax (INCI: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax).

Advantage No. 3: It is suitable for all skin types.

While some may consider the use of a cleansing balm to be counter-intuitive for certain skin types, the reality is quite different. Even though it is more suitable for dry, sensitive, and mature skin due to its nourishing benefits, individuals with combination to oily skin can also use it to help rebalance their skin.

Benefit No. 4: It aids in massage.

Its melting texture provides an excuse for a facial massage, making application more enjoyable. It facilitates the circular movements involved in your cleansing ritual, allowing for better dirt removal, in addition to stimulating blood microcirculation and facilitating lymphatic drainage.

Benefit No.5: it does not run.

Although they operate in the same way, the cleansing balm, due to its soft solid consistency, is less "messy" than cleansing oils, for instance, which tend to have a thinner and more liquid texture.

Benefit No. 6: It is "eco-friendly".

In addition to using only a small amount of product, equivalent to a hazelnut size, resorting to a cleansing balm is a way to bypass the use of cotton pads. This is particularly good news for those with atopic-prone skin, where it will not be irritated by the daily use of cotton.
