In which cosmetic products can we find moringa oil?

Moringa is a tree native to India and grows in tropical regions. Its seeds contain a vegetable oil known for its nourishing, antioxidant, and soothing properties. The benefits of moringa oil for the skin and hair allow it to be incorporated into various types of cosmetic treatments. Discover them here, along with our products containing this ingredient.

What are the treatments containing moringa oil?

The moringa vegetable oil, or Moringa Olifeira Seed Oil as it is known by its INCI name, is a natural ingredient that presents itself as a golden liquid, with low penetration and a slight herbal fragrance. Used in gastronomy for several centuries, it is now highly appreciated in cosmetics. The moringa oil indeed possesses several interesting properties for the skin and hair, including hydrating, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and brightening effects, explaining its presence in the composition of several skincare products.

  • Cleansing oils : Firstly, we can find the moringa oil in some cleansing or washing treatments, most often in an oily formulation. Indeed, this vegetable oil integrates very well into cleansing products and can be used to gently remove lipophilic impurities and makeup residues accumulated on the skin's surface, without irritating it and while preserving its hydrolipidic film.

  • Creams, balms, moisturising lotions : Moringa oil is a natural source of hydration for the skin. Indeed, this vegetable oil, rich in oleic acid, strengthens the protective film on the skin's surface through biomimicry, combating dehydration. Moringa oil also has nourishing properties, allowing it to penetrate the stratum corneum and fortify the skin's barrier function. These various properties make it ideal for dry or dehydrated skin and allow it to be included in the INCI list of several moisturising treatments.

  • Serums : The moisturising properties of moringa oil are also appreciated for formulating hydrating serums, where it is frequently combined with active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or glycerine. Thanks to its anti-radical action, moringa oil is also present in antioxidant serums and those targeting photoaging. Indeed, it is rich in vitamin E, beta-carotene and phytosterols, molecules capable of neutralising free radicals through an electron donation.

  • Masks : The moisturising and nourishing properties of moringa oil can also be found in certain facial masks. Applied once or twice a week, these treatments provide the skin with a hydration boost and impart softness.

  • Hair oils : Extremely beneficial for the hair, the moringa oil is frequently used to make nourishing hair oils. In addition to strengthening the hydrolipidic film that coats the fibres, this ingredient inserts itself between the scales of the cuticle and consolidates the intercellular cement. Thus, moringa oil helps to improve the texture of the hair, making it softer and shinier.

  • Shampoos : Moringa oil is also found in certain shampoos intended for sensitive scalps or those prone to dandruff. This very gentle vegetable oil has shown promising anti-dandruff potential in a clinical study, likely due to its richness in flavonoids and quercetin.

  • Lip care : The skin on the lips is extremely delicate and requires special attention, especially during winter. Cold and wind are indeed factors that can cause them to become irritated, dry, or even chapped. Some lip balms or masks contain moringa oil to nourish, strengthen, and soothe this area.
