What are the characteristics of dull, tired skin?

Dull skin is defined by an uneven complexion that is greyish in colour and lacking in radiance. The scientific explanation is that there is an imbalance in skin cell renewal, which leads to a buildup of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. These can be because of internal factors (lack of sleep, poor blood circulation, skin ageing, hormonal upheaval), or external factors (stress, cold, pollution, smoking, poor makeup removal/cleansing, excessive exposure to UV rays, excessive alcohol consumption…).

We have the essential steps to radiant skin.

In the mornings, protect your skin from oxidative stress

Free radicals, which are made via several outside factors such as pollution and UV rays, accelerate skin ageing and leave your skin dull.

Start your morning by cleansing your skin with our exfoliating cleansing bar with poppy seeds, before applying an antioxidant product. If you prefer the texture of a gel, try our exfoliating cleansing gel with 5% PHA and aloe vera, which will progressively exfoliate your skin to unblock your pores, even your skin tone and leave your complexion smooth and radiant.

Next, apply our organic orange blossom hydrolate, which will brighten your complexion and help with skin cell renewal. Then, try our radiance serum, which contains a high concentration of vitamin C (11%) to give dull and tired skin a radiance boost. Our radiance serum also contains 3% extract of Albizia Julibrissin, a plant of Asian origin which will revitalise your skin. These ingredients work together to slow down photo-ageing. You could also try our firming and radiance complex, which is packed with antioxidant ingredients. This serum offers a preventative and corrective action against the signs of ageing.

After your serum, our antioxidant face moisturiser will help to even your skin tone and reduce the signs of ageing. It pairs extract of lemon with vitamin C, and this combination of ingredients helps to neutralise free radicals, and even and brighten your complexion.

Finally, don’t forget to protect your skin against UV rays with a broad spectrum sunscreen. Typology’s SPF30 facial sunscreen prevents photo-ageing thanks to its mineral and organic filters which offer a broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. It is enriched with aloe vera, karanja oil and hyaluronic acid from fermented wheat. This mix of three powerful compounds prevents photo-ageing and maintains skin hydration. Bonus: its light texture doesn’t leave white marks, and means no shiny or sticky finish.

Pro tip: Protect your skin from oxidative stress all day long with our antioxidant botanical mist with green tea, which you can apply to your face at any point throughout the day.

Make sure to double cleanse every evening

This practice helps to get rid of dirt and impurities that build up on your skin. In the evening, start your routine with our 7-ingredient makeup remover oil, whose texture will leave your skin soft and comfortable, to get rid of makeup and impurities without irritation. Plus, it contains sweet almond oil, rich in omega-9, which will help to nourish your skin. Next, cleanse your skin with our exfoliating cleansing bar with poppy seeds, which is cold-saponified and made with 100% natural ingredients. It contains 8% surgras (nourishing fatty materials) and helps to gently exfoliate your skin. If you prefer a gel texture, try our exfoliating gel with 5% PGA and aloe vera, which will progressively exfoliate your skin to unblock your pores, even your skin tone, and leave your complexion radiant and smooth.

Please note: After makeup removal/cleansing, morning and evening, rebalance your skin’s pH with our radiance toner with vitamin C.

Use targeted products in the evening

After having removed all traces of makeup and impurities, apply our radiance botanical blend. It’s a night serum, packed with antioxidant ingredients, that offers preventative and corrective action against the signs of ageing, and which helps to reveal your skin’s natural glow.

Otherwise, if you’re more concerned with wrinkles than radiance, try our botanical blend with white rose at the end of your routine. It will accelerate skin cell renewal and help tackle the appearance of wrinkles.

Morning and evening, pay particular attention to your eye contour

Tired and dull skin is often prone to dark circles and eye bags. To improve these, apply our cornflower hydrolate after cleansing, morning and evening, to help decongest and refresh your skin. You could follow this with our eye serum with caffeine, applied locally to your eye contour.

Make sure to use a face scrub/mask one to two times a week

Our radiance face scrub with rosehip oil gets rid of buildup of dead skin cells and refines your skin’s texture. You could alternate this product with our peeling mask with red fruit acids. It’s an exfoliating gel which unblocks your pores, renews your skin and brightens your complexion, thanks to its double exfoliating action that is both chemical and mechanical.
