Concealer: Before or After the Foundation?

Although there are no set rules, it is best to apply concealer after the foundation. If the concealer is applied before, it may eventually blur when the foundation is applied, resulting in less coverage.

The Tinted Concealer From Typology

Our tinted concealer has high coverage and a natural finish. It not only provides an even and healthy look immediately, but also has a lasting effect against dark circles thanks to the active ingredients it contains:

  • Caffeine promotes blood circulation, reduces water retention, and thus helps reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.

  • Cornflower hydrosol enables to support the effect of caffeine by stimulating blood circulation. Due to its decongestant effect, it stimulates the removal of fluid accumulated under the eyes.

  • It also contains niacinamide (vitamin B3), which helps reduce the appearance of blue circles under the eyes by stimulating blood circulation. It also provides a more even complexion.

Our concealer can also be used to cover and soften blemishes. In fact, niacinamide helps restore the skin's barrier function and is involved in the healing process. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that work against blemishes.

We have developed six different concealer colors according to the FITZPATRICK phototype scale:

  • Type 1: Very light - pale skin with cool undertones. Does not tan and turns red in the sun.

  • Type 2: Light - pale skin with pink or yellow undertones. Tans gradually, tends to sunburn.

  • Type 3: medium - peau médium with predominantly warm or olive undertones. Tans easily, but sometimes burns.

  • Type 4: dull - dull skin with predominantly bronze undertones. Sunburn occurs occasionally.

  • Type 5: brown - brown skin with warm undertones. Sunburn is rare, the skin turns brown in the sun.

  • Type 6: dark brown - dark skin with predominantly cool undertones. Sunburn is rare and an exception.

Our Tips for an Instant Glow

At Typology, we have developed a range of tinted skincare products that are hybrid products, which means they are in between skincare and makeup. They provide an even complexion while offering long-term benefits for the skin. In this product line, you will find our lip oil, lip balm, tinted serums and tinted concealer.

Enriched with vitamin C for a radiant complexion and Aloe vera to keep skin hydrated, tinted serum provides light coverage and an even complexion. Each tinted serum can match a wide range of skin tones. The six shades of our serums were developed according to the FITZPATRICK Phototype Scale.

Apply a pipette of the tinted serum in the morning with a brush or your fingers. The amount of product depends on the desired coverage. Then, spread the product over the entire face and neck, from the center of the face outward so there are no lines.

  • Step 2: Conceal minor imperfections with the concealer.

As mentioned above, our tinted concealer is a fusion of skincare and makeup. It conceals dark circles thanks to its high coverage, while it softens them for a long time thanks to caffeine, niacinamide and cornflower hydrolate.
Apply a few drops under the eyes and spread the product with your fingers or a brush. If you want to use it as a concealer, put a drop of the product on your imperfections (pimples, brown spots, redness, etc.) and pat it in with your fingertip.
