When To Start Using Hyaluronic Acid?

Behind this scientific name lies a key ally in the fight against wrinkles and signs of aging. Naturally present in the dermis, hyaluronic acid acts like a molecular sponge: it can contain up to a thousand times its weight in water. Today, it is found in many facial care products, but also in hair care products or for the maintenance of nails and cuticles. At what age is it recommended to use a hyaluronic acid treatment? Which forms should be used?

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is an extremely hydrophilic complex sugar naturally present in the dermis, the deep layer of the skin located under the epidermis and above the hypodermis. This molecule allows the skin to remain hydrated and firm. It also serves as a support for collagen and elastin fibers. It thus plays a fundamental role in the density and tone of the skin.

Over the years, its content in the dermis decreases and the skin becomes slack. From the age of 50, it is proven that the level of hyaluronic acid is divided by two. This leads to the appearance of wrinkles and a loss of skin elasticity. In addition, the stock of hyaluronic acid is depleted early when the skin is regularly attacked by urban stress, pollution and free radicals that accelerate skin aging.

In order to stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid or to deeply moisturize the skin to prevent the appearance of wrinkles, this active ingredient is present in many cosmetic products. It exists in two distinct forms:

  • Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which penetrates deep into the skin and boosts the production of this active ingredient by the fibroblasts;

  • High molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which moisturizes the surface layers of the skin.

Using Hyaluronic Acid At the Age of 20.

This use is permitted and even recommended from the age of 20. Indeed, in addition to the fact of acting against cutaneous aging, hyaluronic acid is essential to the hydration of the skin. Capable of capturing and retaining up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, this active ingredient is the solution for providing a shot of hydration to dry, dull skin or skin that does not tolerate the harshness of winter.

Using Hyaluronic Acid Being 30 and 40 Years Old.

To reduce the first signs of aging, hyaluronic acid is an excellent ally. With its low molecular weight, the molecule penetrates deeply into the epidermis to reinforce and stimulate its own production naturally produced by the body. Thus, the appearance of wrinkles is delayed and the small signs of aging already present are smoothed out.

From the Age of 40.

After the age of 40, the hyaluronic acid content decreases and the signs of aging are more and more visible. Several studies have shown that hyaluronic acid levels are halved after the age of 50. In order to provide your skin with the hydration and tone it needs, you can combine several hyaluronic acid treatments.
