Existe-t-il des dangers à l'utilisation cosmétique de l'huile de noisette ?

The hazards of using hazelnut oil.

Hazelnut oil is a natural solution for combating acne and rebalancing oily skin. But are there any side effects and contraindications associated with its use?

A few words on hazelnut oil.

Formerly known as "hazel", the hazel tree (Corylus avellana) is a tree belonging to the Betulaceae family, primarily cultivated in Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa. The hazelnut is the oilseed fruit that contains the highest fat content (lipids).

The virgin hazelnut oil is extracted by first cold pressing of the fruits followed by a filtration through cellulose paper. It is fluid and light, with rapid absorption and provides a dry touch. It has a low comedogenicity index, meaning it does not clog pores, does not cause blackheads and penetrates quickly through the skin. It leaves the skin matte, soft and comfortable.

This vegetable oil is rich in fatty acids essential such as the linoleic acid (omega-6), the acid oleic (omega-9), the palmitic acid and the stearic acid. As a reminder, oleic acid is the most abundant long-chain monounsaturated fatty acid in our body. Highly nourishing for the skin, it makes it more supple and softer but also more radiant. Hazelnut vegetable oil also contains a natural antioxidant, the vitamin E, also called tocopherol, as well as phytosterols.

Are there any contraindications to the external application of hazelnut oil?

Hazelnut oil is gentle and non-allergenic. It is perfectly tolerated by all skin types. It is even suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as babies and young children. Non-photosensitising, it can be applied before sun exposure without any risk.

Although no contraindications have been recorded, you should still exercise caution if you are allergic to oilseeds and nuts. Before applying hazelnut oil to your face or scalp, place a few drops in the crook of your wrist to see if any reaction occurs.

Note: If you are using a skincare product containing hazelnut oil, ensure that you are not allergic to any of the components present in the specific formula.
