Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are dilated veins visible under the skin, often of a bluish or purple hue. They primarily appear on the legs due to poor venous return. When the valves of the veins malfunction, blood pools, leading to vessel dilation. Several factors contribute to their occurrence: heredity, prolonged standing, lack of physical activity, pregnancy, or hormonal fluctuations. While they are often harmless, they can cause pain, heaviness in the legs, and complications such as venous ulcers.
